He said he'd love to, but he used a term "his nemesis", and Im not quite sure what he means. The guy speaks about 6 languages and sometimes he drifts off and I just nod my head; UH HUH... I gave him the last two days off to help go buy a new stove, range hood, and install them. He kindly asked if it was OK to go back to the shop today. He does alright for an old guy. I'm only 6 months behind him haha. I know some guys run a voting link... I dont know how to do that. Maybe one of you guys can put one up and not get your fingers in the wringer (!) it may convince him to re-engage here. I know he misses a lot the interaction with the guys, but he does OK going out to what he calls his "fortress of solitude". I sure know he doesnt get interrupted back there LOL... Pat
Willy is down to only about 6 hours a day. Says he's running low on steam. I guess tomorrow Im supposed to help do some masking around the doors and jamms(sp?). They have such weird names for stuff. After that Ill help him wetsand the black primer to get ready for the 2X gray paint. The real paint should be here this week. We have all 24 toes crossed. The guys' doing lots of little stuff. Detail work he calls it. Sure hope its a stunner when he's done. Everything else he does is beautiful. This oughta be too!
Yessir Frank... either that or some spider webbing; remember blowing unthinned paint out of the gun? It comes out "stringy".
I saw that Luke a few weeks ago when you posted it. It's cool. I grew up during the custom paint, custom van, mural era. It was kind of crude stuff, but very cool.
I can't tell you how often I've thought about painting my Buick similar to that Road Runner, or doing metalflake which was also pretty cool back in those days. I still love to see that stuff but I always manage to frighten myself out of doing it. The only trouble I see with it is that if I ever needed to sell it, the number of potential buyers would be minimal at best. Another color I've always liked is that lime green color like what came on some of the `69 Mopars. It's perfect on a `69 Super Bee or Dart. One day I told my wife I wanted to paint the Buick that color and put some old Radir mags and wide whitewalls on it. She asked if I had lost my mind. Probably
10,000 feet of masking tape later... LOL. I remember the amount of time to mask, de-mask, and re-mask for each color and separation. I just wanted to do a "Day Two" custom job.
When you get it done, Bonnie and I are going to take a road trip up your way this spring/summer so we can stop and visit and see the car. Nothing like putting the pressure on to do a nice job, right?
Reminds of that Huey Lewis tune... "The heat is on..." I sure hope its done by then. Theres a few kinda big boat jobs to do this spring. I'm counting on being wrapped up around May 1st; you know, ME being ME LOL.. P
Thanks again to Electra Bob for the mats... while I was waiting for the spot glaze to dry... LOL... Maybe 2X primer Sunday! Waste not, want not! Its all good pal.
I'm liking everything I see here Pat, but I gotta say i'm NOT a fan of the cheesy lookin' hood louvers. However YMMV.......... '
Those are actually high quality louvers... pretty heavy duty. I think in dark blue they'll blend right in.If they dont look good, a quickie fix will negate the installation. P
