I used one of Mike G's crossmember repair parts, the thing was great.

garage a bit cleaner...new problem is finding a rotisserie....was trying 2 get some partners involved ..but nothing....hate 2 buy one just for one restoration, and then storing the thing..space is getting limited.......went around a few body shops that happen 2 have one, offering a few hundread bucks for 2-3 weeks of use.....but they are also booked up on restorations..tis the season u know....

maybe i buy the ones on ebay and then sell it back on ebay for (worst scenario) 1/2 the price..... :Do No:

ya know when you have the right equipment ...that also puts one in the correct mode ....mode of proper restoration... :Smarty:

****by any chance anybody within 100 miles have one?.. :Brow: ****

almost all of the automotive stuff (especially racing parts) I've had to buy in the past was diamond encrusted titanium when I bought it and mold encrusted dog crap when I wanted to sell it. :Dou: If you can find a used one, just buy it and sell it when you're done. Of course, as soon as you sell it, you'll need it again and it will then be worth 3 times what you sold it for....

Yeah, thats the way it goes. Look at all the parts i bought at 1.55 exchange when first got my project, now exchange is 1.25....coulda saved thousands....

I know a guy who used two engine hoists to make a rotisserie, kinda odd but it worked.Took some welding, put tubes on top of each that did not interfere with the arms (removed), and then made up arms to bolt onto car. Another guy used engine stands but that was a street rod, not a full body car, so have to be careful with that one. No place to rent one??

Also, I would just like to add another 110 hours onto my project for painting and rebuilding the top mechanism (it went on for weeks, GM really needs better diagram!), and another 40 or so for dying parts and running around.

Also, today I saw a can with orange paint in it...!!!!!

Car original color is flame orange. I'm not really crazy about orange cars. Debated with changing color, but decided not to as once done that paint will be on there for a long time (my 71 is pushing 16 years with the paintjob on it and still looks great). Interior and top are easy to change colors, paint not so much.

Anyway, took a few tries for the paint supplier to get the color mixed to my satisfaction. Amazing how everyone has different views and chips but we used original unfaded parts to match up as well. Just got a message yesterday, jambs/rear seat area are done and car is ready to come home for top frame install and top installation, then goes back for final assembly and final paint.

Pic attached last time I saw it...more when I get the time to go look at it ...Monday perhaps.

I am excited. This car , after five years of sweat and toil, has become my primary focus for the next bit. Even took some time off work to try and get it completed...

No worries, I work five on, five off. The shifts themselves are 12 hours long. When on shift, that is ALL you do pretty much. We get our 10 stat days per year to put anywhere we want (is, so take off 5 stat days and that gives you 15 off in a row), plus I am now entitled to another 120 hours per year (basically, two more sets of 15 off in a row), plus I have lots of hours banked (80.00 or so) from working OT earlier this year as I knew this was coming....

I will be off most of late December and then another 15 days in January so hoping major progress at that time, interior all in except seats, fire the engine, electrical, bumpers, etc stuff like that.

Will update website asap, too much going on right now...

will be stripping the shells paint 2 bare metal in a few weeks...

what do you guys put on a naked body so it wont rust up??....how long it stays naked is unkown...

The shell won't rust unless you have water sitting on it or you are letting it sit outside in between working on it.. I have had mine bare for a year and a half and it hasn't rusted at all..Unless of course you are on the coast, then I suggest a sandable primer.. Randy.

    ok thanks

I was thinking that it would somewhat take on a shade of rust if sitting for a while....

I have both sandblasted and sanded areas down to the metal and none of it has any rust what so ever.. I guess it depends on your climate.. But we have high humidity here in the summer and it doesn't bother it.. Thanks Randy
