Why would you buy a NOS pad thats 39 years old when you can get one recovered and it's brand new?NOS or not it's still has to be somewhat hard and dried out wouldn't you think?I went thru this with my 65 Riviera dash pad a few years ago.Every pad i looked at i found something wrong with if you looked close enough.Wound up having Dash Spec. in Medford Oregon recover mine.I would think you could match the grain pattern of a 70 dash also and it's not 39 years old.

Good for you Scott, divorce isn't funny at the time, actually its never funny, but if you can laugh about it a few years down the road its a good sign.... I lost my 69 wildcat right after i got married the first time, now i got a new wife and 2- 69 cats. Cheers, Gord

I don't know about you guys but all the pads I am finding have the dreaded droop over the guages. Still soft but that curve is a killer on a high dollar resto. I would imagine its well out of my price range soon

Yep, Hope the other guys here won't get upset for the moment (Other Topic) But, indeed divorce sucks!
She got the new GMC Pickup, while I could not afford to drive the GS. Don't laugh I had to buy a VW Rabbit to get around in. Heck I was paying $1200 a month as my wages were garnished. I felt like a criminal?
What a time that was Gord, It's all over now, Ten years ago, and I don't ever want to go through that again. I too am remarried, "Life goes on"

Happy Holidays to you and (2) Cats (LOL) and the wife!

"Back to the expensive NOS Dash Pad" and my apologies to the board here.

Staying on topic, i lost out at $525 for the pad, adding 25% for the poor Canuck buck has put this thing out of reach for me:ball:

Scott its been about 10 years for me too, I have a great daughter from the 1st so its not all bad, all the best to you also and the GS....:TU:

Because it now costs $800-1000 with shipping to have an old one redone at Just Dashes. I cannot say much positive about the place you used.

I suggest you include the 65-72 Buick center storage console lids in your business plan.

I was close, only off $1350! Now I know why more people didn't guess what it would bring. :dollar: :dollar:

Do you think the new owner is a board member? If so will he please stand up and let us know what car it's going on? Hopefully it won't get damaged by UPS or FedEx! Can you imagine them actually paying at a $2k claim?

hard to believe the price...i bet the guy selling it was crapping his pants watching the action. It takes 2 guys to make an auction, one guy has to be a board member..and it prob wasn't a Canadian cause in our bucks thats over $2,500 dollars. yikes, guess i'll be going to just dashes....

If u decide to get Just Dashes to do yours make sure u factor in they might take 8 to 10 months to get the job done.

Also interested to know if Just Dashes can take the droop out or if they just send back afresh pad on a droopy frame. I had thought of trying to slowly heat the plastic frame and reshape it installing a support on the back with epoxy glue to make it stiffer. Unless I find a perfect specimen for the Stage 1 Suncoupe

i talked to "just dashes", $900 to redo a black dash, don't know about the sag, but i did ask if the dash wasn't in bad shape and just needed to be re-vinyl'd and she said $900 cause they remove all the foam, repair, refoam and revinyl it. So i guess if you have a fairly nice dash its the same price to get repaired as a really bad dash? i would imagine if they refoam it they would make sure there is no sag but a phone call could clear that up. The lady at Just Dashes also told me 8 weeks turnaround time? http://www.justdashes.com/

So for 900.00 you can get a brand new 08 pad but if you spend 1,100.00 more you can buy one that's 39 years old.Doesn't common sense play a role anywhere here?
