Any guess? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=170282419983 Seller is at least throwing in the UPS shipping! :TU:
Very doubtful it's a NOS....but it might be. More likely a very eary take off..... Money is tight....we will see. Peace WildBill
A guy couldn't have taken 6 worse pictures, as clear as mud (black mud). I'm have to agree with Bill, not likely NOS (but you never know). If you are bidding, you have to ask yourself one question: Do you feel lucky?
One way to tell if it has been on a car is to look at the two plastic nuts above the dash bezel to see if they have screw threads cut into them. I have four original dash pads in the attic that do, and secondly they all have white grease pencil markings on them, and this one doesn't. o No: I will ask the seller and report back. Jerry asked for us to guess on the amount it will bid to. Let's assume it is NOS. I think $650 even during these times. Chris, Bill, Bob and Dan???
I'll take a guess at $800. Some people are so nuts for NOS pieces they will pay almost any amount. I wonder how hard it would be to get these reproduced. I don't need one but I bet they would be good sellers.
I have to agree with that. I know if it was Saddlewood I'd go at least to the $1000.00 mark. Provided it is NOS.
No one would repro this part because there are too many nice dashpads still around. I bet it you put a mint used dashpad up against this one on Ebay, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
He posted my question and his answer on the listing. It appears to be NOS based on his answer: Hello, I checked the white plastic "slots" or "nuts" you mentioned and they show no signs of use. They are virgin-no marks at all. I wasn't thrilled with how the pictures came out, so if it's sunny tomorow I'll take more close up. The studs that go into the metal dash show no wear, and there are no indentations where the A/C ducts would have been installed. It is much nicer in person than pictures indicate. I have a very nice used one that I can use as a comparison as to the wear indicators that appear once a pad is installed. Thanks for the inquiry-it's a nice piece. I bought my first GS in 1986 at age 20 and loved these cars ever since. - evel_one
If it is really is nos, it will clear a grand.:dollar: It is not like you will ever get a 2nd chance at one like this again. There might be many NICE ones out there, but I assuming this is perfect. Should be interesting...
You know what the funny thing is about people who overpay for an NOS item? Say someone gives 1000 or more for this dash pad because it's NOS. Once it's installed on their car, it's worth no more than a 100-200 perfect used dash pad. You just lost $800+ just to brag about having an NOS partou: It's stupid IMHO.
Hey racenu Off topic, I love your quote! "Restoring a classic is like getting a divorce, it usually costs twice as much and takes twice as long as you initially thought...but it's all worth it in the end The only thing I got from My divorce was my GS, LOL! And; "IT WAS DEFINITLY WORTH IT"!
....looks like the real deal after a longer look.....you could do a CSI on it and see if the front edge mounting clips had any scrape marks from the raw stamped edges of the receiver slots in the dash frame p Even with the economy.....i think Mark might have called it at a "G" .....it's BLACK ain't it Mark :TU: Get the popcorn...... Peace WildBill
