Yeah, 8:1 is a good target to shoot for. 8.4:1 is the theoretical limit, but then everything else has to be right in a cool running engine. Those cast pistons will likely end up as much as .050 in the hole. To get to 0 deck, you'll need to mill that off the block. That's why I suggested the custom forged pistons. You can change the compression distance and dish/valve relief volumes.

Yep the 73 to 74 860 last three numbers are the heads I have the pistons from ta sit .030 down in the bore on my block it had 1 prior rebuild and needs .005 to make it flat heads need .012 to make flat gonna do .020 on the heads guessing at a 69 cc chamber and the guy figures 9.8 compression so that's what iam working with the manifolds and intake were all from the same engine was hoping to use exhaust manifolds and block off all the smoggy holes on the heads to run a performer heads have the small valves but I was gonna have the larger stage 1 cut in after porting was finished . Am I on the right track or way off in lala land

73-74 heads are 71cc. Not sure what .020 on the heads will get you, maybe less than 69cc. Not sure if it is worth it for the bigger valves, I think the porting is way more important. What is the dish on the piston?

The dish is 23 cc the valves are in great shape so if it saved me money keeping the factory valves iam all for it

Yeah, I'd put that into more porting. So with these numbers, about 9.8:1

I know it's hard with out the car yet but I know what tranny and know it gonna be a heavy car and gotta drive good closest track is 30 min from my house would like to drive there and run good numbers drive home ya know

    I guess I didn't account for the 23 cc dish, I assumed 16

Advertise at 22.5 but I will do a actual compression measurement when Shor block installed but we figured 9.8 compression. Wow the stage 1 looks ok
