I misplaced my engines folder. Drives me crazy.
I installed pan and intake and am making couple changes while resealing them.
My balancer is done as it’s tearing after about 4000 plus miles too. Was oem. Getting new stock from TA.

Did you run the factory rockers with that cam ?

running the stk stamped rockers with lifts over 500 will eventually cause a broken rocker or a pushrod pushed through them. had this happen several time b4 I bought a set 430/400 rockers. but they have a larger ball cup than the stamp ones so they require a special pushrod.

I have the stock oem rockers and pushrods still on it.
Quiet valve train as of now.
Have Edelbrock performer grinder outside removing name and painted red. Stock intake bolts and brackets too.

I was just thinking about pushrod length with my heads being decked and block having a slight clean up deck would the factory length pushrod be to long now . Don't want the lifter plunger to deep ? I can check it I think my set of pushrod length checkers will go that high but it was a over site that I did not think of

if quite now more than likely ok for now.
I was running a lunati cam with 530ish lift if I recall and ta's stage 1 plus strings. in the 7 or 8 years I ran it I broke 3 or 4 stock rockers in the first couple years, switched to the 400/430 finger style never broke another one. in fact I ran those same rockers up over 575 lift

when they change cam lift the also make the base circle smaller so it is possable that the stk length way fit. but the only way to know is the measure. this step should be done on every motor, I would never assume anything here, it's a simple step and a checking pushrod is under 20 bucks

Thanks . I checked and all look ok.
    Checked valves too.
One very major and important fact about our Buick heads is equalizing and correcting valve heights.
    I had a problem on my 350.
Spent good coin on big valves and bowl work.
Car ran inconsistent. My fault not checking but new valves were all over the place on heights which messes idle vacuum and consistency.
Make sure your valves are all equal.

    What are 400/430 rockers?
I have a 71 455 engine also and the rocker set that are aluminum but are pretty grungy.

    these came on 67,68,69 400s and 430.

when looking at used parts slide the arms down to check for wear on the shafts and check the wear pad for the rocker tip.

new shafts can be found, the tips are very hard to find.

these are not held in place with the plastic pins like both styles of 455. both alumin and stamped steel. but are held in location by the springs and spacers that go under the bolts
