I`ve found a `67 GS onvertible in Bismarck,ND my problem is i`ve contacted DAS and they want $2,000 to ship it to NY and its not even in an enclosed trailor, then i contacted another place that Bruce got his GS350 delivered with and they told me its too out of the way and thats the reason DAS was charging $2,000 in the first place, can someone shed some light or suggest something please?i`d really hate to lose this car because the of the shipping situation.

    Thanks

  2. George, I hear Fedex recently bought a transport company with a good reputation, and fairly reasonable pricing. Maybe check their website and see if they have some info about it.

Bismarck huh... :) I could drive it out for ya!

    George,

Just a thought here, but maybe one of the North Dakota guys could drive/trailer the car to Minneapolis for you. Leave it at Tri Shield with Jim and have the shipper pick it up there?

    HMm....actually George - there's a plan brewing

Have one of the ND boyz drive it to Salem next month....you hitch a ride with Larry, Moe, or Curlrey......and you're home free !!

  9. Is it roadworthy? We have a Bismarck member, maybe he would be interested in driving it to Fargo. From here, I would get around to driving it to Jim's sometime after summer... :)

    We're talking DRIVING here George

you remember.....feet on the pedals, hands on the wheel......top down and hair blowin' in the wind :Brow:

No better way to bonds with your new ride.....and find out what needs fixin' all at the same time:Dou:

I did it with my Convert and my Sportwagon. Convert. was driven home from Buffalo - about the same distance as Salem......and the Sporty I flew out to Denver and drove it cross country, sight unseen.....2000+ miles

nobody asked me, but i would hire anyone except DAS. i've never heard anything but complaints about them. they sure ruined the car i sold on ebay, every day there is a thread on ebay motors bb about the trouble people have with them. theres got to be a better carrier.

Henry, theres gotta a better carrier but the problem is no carrier wants to go that route, they say its out of there way and thats why they`re asking crazy money to ship it to NY.

    Thanks:Do No:

Fly in drive it home. Takes balls; but I been known to make the 150 to 800 mile drive on occasion without incident. That may change within the next two weeks when i fly out to IL and pick up Rob's car and drive it home back to LI, NY which will be my longest jaunt in my 45 years of existence.

If you can wait until 8/2. Fly in, drive south and I'll meet you on 80 west near Chicago for cruise home.

We can take turns pushing them back to NY if all hell breaks loose.

    or

Join AAA gold and have them tow it 150 miles a day as you keep breaking down along the way home until you get home. Takes some planning to figure out where all the Pep Boys et al are along the interstates.

    Good luck.

    :)

    Thanks

    George,

Pick your route and let us know. Gather a list of Buick brothers/sisters along the way with contact info so you can call for help if needed. I'm sure you'll find one of us every couple hundred miles if you need a garage to wrench in or a place to stay for a night while you wait for parts. Bring an extra carb, tune-up kit, duct tape, hoseclamps, etc.

It always seems the better prepared I am the less problems I have:grin:
