This was clearly a re-run I saw on Saturday, but they were making new tail lights for this car. I was going along with it until I saw what they did to the trunk lid in partially filling in the tailight openings.
I then thought the whole thing looked like :moonu:

It was nice of Tommy to show up with the car and race it in front of a real "Buick" crowd. The car looked great in person. Even the wheels looked good. They do have a bit of factory rally wheel flavor to them although for my taste they have just a little too much wheel and not enough rubber. The front bumper mods really cleaned up the front end. I wish I could do something like that to my '76.

His first run was all spin. I only talked to him for a few seconds in the staging lanes before the second and he said it was tricky to get the tires to hook. His second run was a 13.8@101+ taking it easy off the line and still spinning. 455, high stall converter, 3.73 gears and 3.06 first gear make for a lot of torque to try to hook with regular street tires.

I should have said to take the air cleaner top off. That setup which looks great for shows or cruises is really choking the intake off. I run dual 4" hoses to my a-c with minimal chokedown and I'm still suspicious of its airflow. His car has dual 3" hoses and then is choked down to probably 2" or less at the a-c. I'd advise to get that Edel 800 off there because that is another choke point. The factory Q-Jet would probably work better. Too bad Edel doesn't make the 850 Performer Q-Jet anymore. Other than that, with some slicks and some more TnT it would start to fly.

Hopefully we'll hear more about it on future shows especially if they take it back to the track and really wring it out.

I was impressed....even though they really did'nt pay attention to the Wildcats.........i gave the girl a couple 24"x36" original GSCA club posters with "GUS" ........i'd have a heart attack if i saw one hanging in the Musclecar shop during an episode :eek2:

To build the car.....on TV in front of millions and then bring it out to a Buick only event....let alone the GS Nationals to lay it down......with the cameras running......
and do it "All Buick".......real impressive :TU:

    I agree 100% with that.
I think that we all could find things that we like about the car and some things that we don't but Big credit should be given to the show and everybody involved with it.I was not able to attend the GSCA/Wildcat Nationals but I'm impressed with the fact that they hauled and raced that car in front of that crowd.I wonder how many young people didn't know that Buick made a 455ci engine and do know now because they saw the tv shows.

:beer :beers2: :beer Good job fellas.

I just submitted my car in the powerblocks car rebuild promotion, as much as I'd like to do it on my own at this rate I'll run out of money to keep it running and it will go back to sitting in a garage.

Hey a guy can dream can't he? Besides, who doesn't want to see another Buick build? Can you put in a good word for me Tommy? Just kidding its like the lottery everyone wins but you:TU:

Are there any future plans for Blue collar?

I don't think the car looks all that bad. I agree with a lot of you about the wheel and tire combo, not enough sidewall. I also think the tail light treatment looks like poo. However I'm in love with the front bumper treatment. I've wanted to do the exact same thing to my front bumper, just wish I could see the episode where they did the work to it.

I just got done going thru this topic and cant help but notice the comments about bigger wheels changing the looks of cars. In some cases rim choice can make or kill and car....And i am showing a few of my cars to show that you can have big rims and still sit up stock height...For example my 68 riviera which has a 455 in it sits lower then almost every car i have seen including muscle cars riding on stock rims/tires...And my 69 toronado which i owned before i bought a 68 riviera also sat real low and so did my friends blue 68 riviera which you can see sitting nose to nose with the 69 toronado....Now not trying to start a debate but just showing with the right tire and rim offset you can still sit at stock height...

I agree with you nekkid. I don't think the issue is stance. Buicks, especially the big ones, look great a little lower. But most of the giant rims, like yours, are too flashy and quite honestly don't match the look of the car. I would love to get bigger rims, because they DO make these big cars look great, but very rarely do you see a style rim that matches the body.
Everyone likes their own style, so who am i to judge. If you like it, that's the only thing that matters.
