    No they weren't, I double checked:mad::p
On a lighter note, while welding, I found my roller cam card/sheet/paper on the floor against the wall, I have been looking for that damn thing awhile, I made sure to put it in an OBVIOUS place so I can misplace it again:rolleyes:
On the pick up, Im going to wait till I drop my pan, so I can see where MY pick up sits, always seems theres variance between engines, but thanks for the offer;)
Work on getting those catalogs and decals to me, oh and a couple fridge magnets too:p

    Wow, that is AWESOME fabrication!
Is that steel pan with the pick up going external for your belt driven oil pump?

    Me too!
I'd love to be able to fabricate and weld like that.

I do not think mine is that low. Will snap a pic today.

Hi Mark I can’t find pics of my pickup with external line to the belt driven pump. Mine is the alum shiny pan. I also have a 1/2” spacer to make more room for a windage screen. The pics of the fancy side exit line are the black steel pan that Steve made. He (the customer) must have been running a similar setup to mine.

Finished modifying the sump, it holds 5 qts in the sump without breaching the "flat" of the pan, which is close to the crank and rods. 6 qts. will bring it up close to were im going to put a baffle. The baffle is going were the black marks are from my Sharpie. IMG_0419.JPG IMG_0420.JPG IMG_0421.JPG IMG_0422.JPG IMG_0423.JPG

Looks good, but...……… with that size sump I would definitely have a "box" type baffle setup or a minimum of swinging trap doors. That's a quite large flat area and to keep the pickup covered in there will take a little work... Pictures for reference...…...

    Thanks Steve,
I've purposely left all my tools out on my bench to remind me Im not done yet;)
Have to order more grinding discs and cut off wheels:rolleyes:
I REALLY appreciate your input and the pics:cool:
I'd love to watch you design and fabricate and weld your pans.
Do you draw or put these designs on paper before you start cutting or make it up as you go along?

Whats preffered, baffles or swinging doors, or does it matter?
If I do swinging doors, use a piano hinge?

I might add a shelf at the front of the hump to help with deceleration, about where your sharpie Mark is. How well do the kick outs clear a starter?

Piano hinges work well for trap doors. I would say trap door instead of baffle so under acceleration it feeds the pickup.

According to my measurements it should clear fine, plus its a mini starter.
Im HOPING it clears one of the header pipes on the left side, one of the pipes kinda turns towards the block a bit, but again, ACCORDING to me measurements, it SHOULD clearo_O

Don't laugh, I have to keep reminding myself to install it:rolleyes:

You want horizontal baffles no matter what, but the addition of a vertical baffle with swinging trap door would be most beneficial.
Yes, use a piano hinge with a smaller diameter pin. You want it to actually be sloppy so it never binds up. I replace them with brazing rod material.

Before I put the baffles in with trap doors, Im going to drop my original pan, and then set this one in place and figure out how I can get the pick up tube to make a witness mark on the pan bottom.
This is actually fun, a nice distraction from all that's going on:D
