Congrats on the new Truck! thats a hell of a truck and I know you will be happy with it. I don't blame you one bit.

When it comes to trucks I have been a Ford guy through and through. I always needed an HD 3/4 ton and there was never any foreign owned competition in that size.
I met my wife 9 years ago and she had a 1994 Toyota Celica so I inherited all the maintenance. First time I ever got to work on a Toyota.

Her car was driven hard in the harsh salty winters of SW PA and never kept in a garage. Other than brakes and general maintenance, I didn't have to do any major and rare minor repairs up until 150k. Any time I did do a repair, it was a breeze because nothing was ever rusted together or away. They used really good steel on that car. At 150,000 mi I finally put a clutch in it and did the job myself. After the end of the day I was amazed that I barely got dirty because there was zero fluid leakage of any kind which made no greasy hands and arms. Very impressive to say the least. My Fords need a DEP permit wherever they are parked due to the leakage.

In comparison to my babied garage kept 1994 F-250 with half the miles, I had multiple issues mostly with components like the oil pan, dip stick tube, tranny cooling lines, PS lines all rusting out as well as a blown front tranny seal which left me stranded. The list goes on and on and on. Its a real disgrace. To its credit that truck pulled and hauled like a brute. No Toyota Tundra would have a chance against the 7.5L engine. It could only pass me when I was broke down. :ball:

This experience "completely" changed my impressions of those who buy cars built in America but owned by Foreign companies. Many of those cars and trucks are simply a "lot" better value and for anyone wanting to spend hard earned money wisely, its simply buying smart.
I just bought an 06 F-350 so am still loyal to the big Fords because despite their short comings they represent strength, power, and well.....for a red-neck like me, anything but a Ford Truck just wouldn't cut it. :eek2:

When I went to replace my truck last year, I looked at the Toyota. I own a Toyota Solara, and love it. The truck is just awesome. More power than any competitor, and was extremely quiet inside. The ride is firm, and handling was great. All in all, I was very impressed. It is a very carefully thought out and well built truck, with a reputation that speaks for itself. :TU:

Great choice for a truck. I have 24k on my 08 so far and have trailered up to 8500 pounds with no problems. It's amazing how much power that 5.7 makes. Other then oil changes I have not had any problems with my truck what-so-ever. Great color choice as well. Mine is also a Slate Metallic Crew Max!! :beer

The few problems that have been posted here are pretty weak. They almost sound like anti Toyota propaganda when looking at the numbers.

Camshaft failures: Effected about 20 (yes TWENTY) 07 trucks TOTAL and was due to heat treating process by the camshaft manufacturer. Toyota gave the owners brand new trucks.

Tailgate failures: Effected some 07 and early 08 trucks. Toyota replaced every one at no cost to the customer and informed them that they would regardless of warranty. Toyota developed and deployed a much stronger tailgate.

Rust issues; Some 95-04 Tacoma's experienced severe frame rot thanks to Dana Corporation (they built every Tacoma frame for Toyota) not using the spec'd steel formula and not following proper heat treating process. Toyota changed the warranty to 15 years unlimited mileage and bought every truck that had a rusty frame back for 1.5x KBB value.

I wish someone would explain to me how buying a Dodge that's made in Salido Mexico or a Chevy made in Canada is somehow going to help U.S. workers more then buying one made in either Indiana or Texas?

The only US company I would ever consider buying from would be Ford. US tax payers just gave GM and Chrysler a s**t load of money and now both companies are filing for bankruptcy anyway. Thank you GM and Chrysler for sticking it to us!! :af:

You live in Florida, flatland. It doesn't take much to pull a trailer on a level surface. I will gladly drag any Toyoto anywhere with my 7.3 Excursion. Support the country you live in Toyoto owners....

I test drove a new Tundra a while back and I was REALLY impressed. I thought that truck was very well thought out. It had a great ride, nice power, and was very comfortable. The only problem I have with them is the same problem I have with the Chevy's and others, the price, too rich for my blood at this point. When it is time for a new truck, I will give strong consideration to the Tundra. I like the point of cnadian and mexican built trucks not helping the US. My wife is from southern Indiana where the Tundra is built. That plant employs a ton of people. Congrats on the new truck, the seem like pretty awesome trucks to me. By the way, I have an 01 Silverado that I am pretty happy with. My wife drives an 06 Envoy.

First off congrats on the new truck purchase.
I am a Toyota master diagnostic tech worked for Toyota for 16 yrs.

The trucks are amazing the problems mentioned in earlier posts affected a very small amount and were taken care of. Tons of R&D and product development go into these. They are proud of there warranty and will alot of times goodwill a repair even if it is over the mileage or criteria.Don't be affraid to take it to the dealer with any complaints they will treat you right. Just my 2 cents.

They were a great company to work for and care about there employees I now work as a foreman in a shop that services Ford products for a local cable company and I have a new respect for them as well from rangers to F-650 diesels and they hold up well. But every manufacturer has it's problems we could not keep plugs from blowing out of the V-8 motors (only threaded in about 2-3 threads!) they have now corrected it.I do a few transmissions a year and had one motor just let go on a F-250 19k miles the injector tip came off flooded the cylinder hydrolocked the motor and left a nice hole in the block. They warrantied it with no problem.

We fought the Japs who wanted to conquer the world so that our great grand children would be able to buy jap trucks???? I know that you think that your political correctness is stylish but you are nuts. Damn shame. Choke on your toyota.

Actually, we fought the "Japs" because our country decided to isolate Japan economically and convinced the Dutch and British to cut off oil exports to them. They had little other options other then start a war against us.

I'm not condoning anything the Japanese did in WWII but we need to keep our facts straight. The Japan of today has nothing to do politically or economically with the Japan of 1941.

Germany for the record, was the nation who wanted to conquer the world. :Smarty:

If the Govt. owns GM and they build crap should we buy them anyway to help out the Govt.?Thats Un-American!

In a free market system the best products drive the marketthat what it means!

Toyota/Honda build the best cars for the dollar...period.

That's the narrowminded attitude that is causing alot of people to not even look at what GM and Ford have to offer. And it's funny that JD Power rated Buick above Toyota and Lexus and Honda. And....Consumer Reports rated the Regal above Camry and Accord in reliability.

I agree! Many people have the same old opinion of American cars that they did back in the 80's. Many of those cars in the late 70's and early 80's were badly built. Foreign cars were better then IMO. BUT, we have caught up now. It was catch up or stop building them. However, it has been tough to win back the customers lost in that period. My family and myself have owned many American built cars for years now. Some of them have owned foreign cars and trucks too. I have no complaints with any other than the 1999 Dodge Cummins we had. It was junk! You will find junk in them all from time to time. Some on here are calling others narrow minded when they should look in the mirror and see the same thing.

I hope Japan realizes we are the main reason they are such a powerful automobile making country right now. We have created many of our own problems over the decades and I hope it soon slows down.
