At least Toyota stood behind their trucks...They bought mine back and I made out very well if I say so. Besides men...The reason the frames were bad was Good Old USA produced frames which weren't coated right!!! Chevy would never stood up to that. Congrats on your new Tundra. I owned 2 Toyota's (both made in the USA and assembled by US workers) and loved every minute of them...

All I know about Mike is what I read here-- and I'll bet he can take this heat.

And, anybody who ever reads these threads knows how they turn out.

Therefore, it is with knowledge and forethought that I say:

    I'd never buy a Toyota!

But I am very glad Mike can.

People can say Toyota trucks are the best and bash Chevy's all they want, but I have been extremely pleased with my CHEVROLET Silverado 2003. It has 255,000 mostly trouble free miles.Very little breakdowns at all. I beat on it and tow with it all the time and not afraid to go on a long trip towing right now. In fact the trans is still original to it and still pulls very good. The fuel pump is just finally starting to act up and doesn't have the pressure it used to have,so I have a new GM fuel sender assembly ready to install. The engine still runs strong, maybe not as strong as a Toyota 5.7,but big deal. If I want to go 0-60 in 6 seconds,I sure don't need to do it in a truck. That's more suited to a GS455. But if I felt like I had to, a Duramax with a chip and exhaust would get that done. Congrats on your Tundra! They are a nice truck and look great, but I'll stick with a GM untill they start making them in China. Then maybe an American built Toyota in my future.

Good luck dragging a heavy trailer with that piggy I force or what ever the hell they call it V8. I think they are a decent truck as long as you dont try to use it as a truck.

gotta disagree here, there are a LOT of 5.7 Tundra's down here pulling 25-35' twin and triple engine outboard boats around every weekend, don't believe me? come down and see for yourself... kinda amazes me too, but they ARE getting the job done, especially since Yota offer's a 4.30 rear gear option...

You'll love the Toyota product and the piece of mind from knowing there will not be some bankrupt company "standing" behind it. I quit considering GM products back when the General quit considering me a future potential customer. Only a stupid person goes back to a company that treats him like sh!t the last time.

You had two choices in my mind: Ford and Toyota. I own one of each and love recommending either of them though my yotas still beat the Ford in reliability and long term value for the last 15 years.

Enjoy your truck, the fact that you are free to choose what you want (this will end soon under the reign of the chosen one), and the fact that your purchase supports a multitude of your fellow Americans.

Pull up some pine, and let's talk it out. Anything goes here, as long as it "jives" with the tone of this board, which is family oriented, and is Buick related

I wish I could buy a new Tundra since I test drove one last year. Nice truck.
I will have to keep my 1999 Ford F150 with 114k on it and find out what the clunking noise coming from the front end is. Ford Ball Joints last about 75k and they want to sell you the entire a arm to fix it. I have replaced the lowers and idler arm but the uppers might need it now. My 5.4 diesel ( I call it that because the piston slap is so bad) but Ford said its not a problem even though it started at 45k after the second head gasket replacement. I have used Mobil 1 since the 3 oil change and it uses a quart every 1500 miles. The front hood lip is rusting out and so are the door seams on the bottom.
All this and never better than 15 on the highway.

It has to work to pull a small enclosed trailer or an open car hauler.

    Enjoy your new truck.

Junkman, Chris and everyone else for that matter,

I hope your Chevy/Ford/Mopar trucks give you hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles and last you a lifetime and I mean that with all sincerity. I looked for a Chevy 2500HD diesel and had all intensions of going that route and didn't know much about the Tundra until the facts were laid out.

Let me say this.. I have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars restoring my GS and as most of you know, I received gold this year at the Nationals. My wife said little during the restoration process and supported me even though it put a strain on the family financially where projects around the house were put on hold until the Buick was finished. She doesn't ask much and when it was time for a new truck, Chevy or otherwise, I didn't care... If she's happy, the household is happy. I'm sure you married guys know exactly what I'm saying.

This post was NOT to bash Chevys or any other American truck but rather share in the excitement of our new vehicle. Those of you sensitive to the failed American car market have every right to be concerned - as I do. The American car market must come alive and give us quality cars and trucks, but unfortunately, it has fallen short and needs a bazillion bucks to get itself upright. Now the government will get involved and make it even worse. I'm done beating this dead horse. Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Exactly, that's the difference, Toyota recalls and fixes their problems.
GM does nothing and pisses off their customers who then switch.
Not just my opinion, I have read this opinion in a couple of car mags.
I'm tired of people making excuses for shoddy GM products.
They just don't get it, I wish they would change, I truly do.
The consumer is the only one that can give them the message,
which has been going on for years but GM can't or won't listen!
Ford is a little better, and Chrysler can only talk about their hemi.
I would too if I made cars as ugly as theirs.
    Thanks for letting me vent.:Comp:
