It hurts! Selling my GSX

My hand is shaking as I write. I've been trying to avoid this post, for I knew as soon as I say I'm going to sell, I'll have to follow thru with it. :ball: Many of you shared my excitement when I found it, and I know I'll never have another, :ball: but I ended up in the hospital last summer, work hasn't been well, and a financial disater is encrouching on my back door. This is our greatest asset and will bring our quickest relief. :ball: I had all the best intentions of restoreing it into concourse condition, but I can see now it will never happen. :( Might as well let someone else do it. This is a decision my wife has been trying to get me to make for a long time. :blast: She's finally driven me to it. I guess material things aren't everything. I'll now be down to one. My SX. The one that has been in family for years.
SOOOOOOO, what do you think will bring the most value (money) I can achieve? E-bay? Any suggestions?

Sorry you have to sell, can't even imagine how hard a decision it is.

Ebay "can" bring the most money, but it will also be your biggest headache. Sell it on the board if you can, ask for as much as you want out of the car. If you can't get it here, then try Ebay. jmho

I would love to have the GSX restoration project. It has been a dream of mine also. Could I be first in line here at this board. Could you PM me pictures, a list of any aqquired parts, and the price. Thanks Jim

Let's make one thing clear here. THIS is not the For Sale forum, and this is not an ad. No offers, price requests, or "getting in line" takes place in The Bench.

You'll just have to watch Cars For Sale like the rest of us to see if he decides to post it for sale here. Sorry if my comments come across harshly, but we have some very specific rules in place on V8Buick for selling cars and parts.

David is very correct! But, truth be told, you probably don't even need to place an ad on the board if you don't want to. I would venture a guess that you have gotten numerous PM's about buying the car since you placed this post. :)

That's correct about the PM's, BUT, my purpose of posting was to look for some help to make the best possible sale. I am no expert on Buicks, less a GSX. I do not have a price in mind or I would post it in cars for sale. I don't want to give anyone false hope by my posting for help here! I am only responding to requests to buy thru PM's.
This is only my second Buick I have ever owned. My 1st was a 73 Century back in the 70's! So my experience is very limited to say the least. But I am no fool either. So any help will be greatly appreciated!

I am very sorry to hear of your condition and the decision to sell your GSX. I cannot imagine how you feel to give up such a beautiful car. I sincerely hope your health improves and you don't have to sell your pride and joy. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

    Dale,
    Very sorry about your situation.
Go slow and methodical about your decisions. Don't let ANYONE pressure you into committing to a quick sale. You will come out the other side.:TU: The folks here will shoot you straight on the cars value if you give them the info and the time. Good luck Pal!

I greatly appreciate all of your words of sympathy! It was stress that put me in the hospital in the first place. Don't care to go back! Your comments make me see the love you all have for your cars! May-be some day i'll be able to at least buy another Buick, may even be a clone? I'll never stop looking! Being a Buick member here has been way better than on my Olds site! But for now, I have to do what I have to do.
You warn of "flippers". Outside of some low ball park offer, what do you watch for?

Please accept my apology to this board, for asking to be put in line.I have not seen "The Rules". I read the post this morning before heading off to work. I did not pay attention to what forum it was posted under. I just go thru the new posting list. I certainly meant no ill will or meant to apply any pressure to Dale during this difficult time. I will stand down, and let this board do it's job on advising Sale as to it's worth, and will not contact him. If he wishes to offer me a chance at it, ok. If not I will continue looking. Jim

I hate to say this, but you should sell the car for the best offer you can negotiate. You are selling the car to get funds that you are desperately in need if, so go for the most money you can.

I appreciate Bill's post about avoiding a situation where somebody buys your car, does nothing to it, and sells it for double the money to somebody else. That's a "flipper" - somebody who has no regard for the car and just wants to make a buck. These guys are sharks and they make it harder for us to buy and own the vehicles that we would all love to have. You should legitimately try to get as much for your car as they would anyway.

Flippers often try to convince you to "help a brother out" - thay really want your car but they don't have the cash, you'd be doing them such a solid to sell to them, etc. I say just demand the right price for the car and don't do anybody any favors. If you are selling the car to raise dough, then make sure you "get paid".

Do your research carefully. Give yourself a period of time - say two weeks or a month - before you will sell the car. Don't take anybody's offer until you have satisfied yourself that you know what the car is worth.

Talk to Jim W. and send him the info and see what his value range is. Look the car up on Traderonline, call up or PM all of the GSX owners you can find and get their opinion on value. Check with the other Buick resto shops. Call Jim Lore.

If you go to ebay or another auction venue, put all of the information you have out. Take lots of good quality pictures.

Don't give it away, because you are always going to regret selling this car.

sorry about your situation but i would say dont sell it.

if you sell the car,and then when the money's gone, then you have nothing.

right now you have the car.

    Dale,
I'm also sorry about your having to sell your car. I know what you are going through. It would really help to post some pictures and general overall condition so those with all the knowledge can provide you with some unbiased information. Unlike Jim, I'm certainly interested in your car, but not in the position to buy another. :ball:

Here are a few pictures. I'm not best photographer! The beautiful fall day certainly enhances the beauty of the car! I will still have pictures to reminesce with!
Car is very complete but could be missing a couple of small things. Has Stage one distributor rather than non stage, has spoiler but not installed, rear quarters have had some patch work. Interior has had a number of new parts installed. Pans are in good shape. Has been repainted a few years ago. Undercarriage has what I consider to be average rust on it. That's a briefing on condition.
Let me know what you think and if pictures are good enough!
