    End of round 5....
Nope, must have been spooked in Round 4. Or maybe the Intruder roughed him up some. Here is the dropping size I'm dealing with, compared to a dime.

Bait wasn't touched.....maybe he isn't a fan of smoked salmon. I'm going to the butcher to buy one piece of bacon.....I can't eat it...high cholesterol. That ought to get a weird look. I think I'll buy something else to....

Getting bummed.....need some motivation for round 6. Umpire might call the fight......:ball:

Make sure you tie the bacon to the trap with some thread. We tried for 2 weeks to get one at my mom's house. Ten minutes into the bacon it was over. I hope it works. Not trying to give ya a hard time but hoping to help you out.

OK, will do. What part of the trigger do I tie it to? Or does it matter?

The place where you normaly put the peanut butter or cheese. Heat it, tie it, set it and put it put it next to his hole. Hope you get him.

butcher? Shop for the cheap fatty packaged stuff. You can get a whole pack for probably less than fresh cut/wrapped.

Otherwise, buy your regular cuts and see if a strip o bacon can get thrown in for free

    It's over!!!

Brought home the bacon and checked under the sink and this is what I found.

Kinda sad....now I have to go after the rest of his family. Can't be just one......

Exactly. I caught 5 mice in my basement last month. I was shocked there were so many. Kept resetting the trap until I went a week with no activity.

Someone ratted you out on the rodent forum. He found out you were going for the bacon and commited suicide. He knew his days were numbered. Glad you got him

i had added a raisin to his smoked salmon this am. Like someone said...they seem to like raisins....drew him out in the daytime.

Waiting for my hawk to take the carcass away......

I thought he would be bigger than that. Still dead, but bigger.

Give you a hint... THAT was not the rat that left the "evidence" submitted earlier in the photograph. Just too small...Didn't see any other signs of injury... He's not the big'un... Gotta keep setting that trap...

Update on the pack rats, have not seen the rats or the hawk in 2 days. Baited trap with cheese is untouched for 2 days/nights now.

.....another one bites the dust. So these are the juveniles? EEEEEK!

Remember this is the BIG Victor rat trap so maybe they look small in proportion to the trap if you were thinking mouse trap....

But yeah there is likely a bigger one out there...these were probably just scouts looking for food sources.

Raisin, bacon and a dab of peanut butter.....something for any rat palate.

Nope, I'm VERY familiar with the Victor RAT traps. When you catch the one that is about the size of a juvenile HOUSE CAT (You know not a full grown cat, but bigger than a cute little KITTEN) THEN you're getting the full fledged adults. That is when they suffocate in the trap by it strangling them, not merely breaking the neck. The BIG uns will be about ten inch long in the BODY alone ( total over foot and half). These look about six to seven inches by guestimation.
Just wondering; any oak trees around the house? Acorns make for building thick dense rats...
In case you think I'm kidding about the size, Read up more about the size hole a rat can go through. The hole only NEEDS to be barely bigger that the skull. They don't need to make a gracious entrance. One quarter inch bigger is a freeway for a rat. You probably have ten to twenty rats by the time you see one of them.
