I have lost the rest of what little respect I had left for "gm"

The 99-current 6.0 and 6.2 LS engines are very reliable, also the 99-06 4.8 and 5.3 are great. I just avoid the Displacement on demand or Active fuel management versions as they are prone to lifter failure.

My youngest son got about 1300HP out of a just about totally stocker 6.0. 7.77@178MPH in a 3500pd. car with driver with only 22pds. of boost. Sneaking up on 30PSI a little at a time.
With a best so far of 1.13 60 foot with the rear tires.

    Lucas,
I’ve been on both sides - dealer tech, Indy tech, and now shop owner. Getting out of the dealership setting a long time ago was a very good move for me. My nephew just did the same. He was a trans/diesel tech for GM. Good techs are hard to come by, as are good writers. Leaving your comfort zone is a tough thing to do. Good luck.

I purchased a ‘19 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x as I knew they were bringing a new engine and trans in 2020 model year, the Frontier hadn’t been changed since the refresh in 05 and was mocked for “being old and dated” and that’s exactly the reason I bought it.. no junk tech I don’t want and a very reliable truck, didn’t go full size cause I don’t need it and this midsize fits nicely in my garage plus my foreign truck was assembled in Canton MS and the Engine was built in Decherd TN

I bought a new 2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4x4 and it was the best new vehicle I ever had. I put over 229k miles on it and it was still running great when I sold it. Nothing but routine maintenance required other than a driver's door window regulator. I am looking at buying another one and it will be a used one, 2019 or older. I know what I will be getting with that body style, a great, dependable truck.

I still drive my ole '03 Z71 pos all over the place . Over 800k on it right now. Never cracked the 5.3 open other than the front of it to replace the oil pump at 450k . I don't like any of the totally computerized new pickups that cost 78k . The new 3500 HD Chevy High Country is tough looking though at first it looked ugly but now I like it . It has a nasty late '50's look to it almost like a 59 Buick. The push button everything kills it for me. I don't want a computer module controlling all of the functions.

And yet somehow they sell every one and can’t make them fast enough..

And you thought it was only GM having trouble?

2018-2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5L with engine oil leaks. Either the block or the head has porosity issues. The dealer has seen them both ways. There are no parts available. Be prepared to wait indefinitely if you have oil leakitis on one of these. Picture is from a cylinder head that’s porous that I found on the net. I sent one to the dealer today.

Hyundai Sonata (and more) 2.4L engines are rod-spitting machines! Here’s one from the other day. We sent one back a month or 2 ago with the rod handing out. Again, they admitted that there is a problem, and actually issued a recall on certain ones, which is all but unheard of. Usually they extend a warranty but a recall is interesting. A resolution has not been announced. Wait times for new engines is rumored to be 6+ months.

How does Subaru get a good rating when they drink oil and blow head gaskets, lots of problems with many makes, other than the Frontier which is good truck, I wouldn’t buy a Nissan with a cvt for obvious reasons

Reading all the posts here has me wondering if there's an end game to get the masses so infuriated with today's vehicle tech, it will make EV's more palatable.

My 2007 Navigator has given me more grief over the past five years than anything I owned over the previous 40 years. None related to the power train though.....touch wood.:D

GM announced today that they are going to spend one billion (I think) to refurb a plant in Mexico to build an electric vehicle! Ab affront to the American and Canadian autoworkers.

Bob thanks for backing me up. I saw no other way to access without removing or mostly removing the bumper cover . The inner fender does not get you there.

Haven’t bought a new GM vehicle since Oldsmobile went in the dumper. Nor will I. My last new GM vehicle, a 1991 3500 dually, was a POS. I bought a new F150 last January.

Im sure its not just GM, but it seems like they wanna distract the buyer with bells and whistles so they dont notice how shitty a vehicle it is they're buying:p
For 40/50/60/70/80 plus grand my new vehicle better not break or rust EVER:rolleyes:

The more options one new vehicles, the more problem that will surface their ugly heads after the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty expires!!
No money in warranty work but in billable repairs + parts, look out!
The dealer wanted $39.95 for a new cabin filter in my 2015 Colorado. I said NO!

Had to replace my Navigator's blower motor resistor module yesterday. Part cost $188.03 with taxes. Took me 15 minutes of contortion, many cuss words, and some lost blood the complete a task the dealer probably wants minimum half hour book time for.:D One of the two screws was a real &%*#@ to get to.

For me, it’s the reason I don’t care the corporate name on my truck... no reason they can’t invest and build in the USA other than the cheap labor they want F’em... Nissan built my truck in Canton Mississippi, and the engine in Tennessee
