I have lost the rest of what little respect I had left for "gm"

The second I saw the complaint that the tailgate stereo is inop, what little respect for the company I work for is now dead and gone. These mofos can't even make a truck that doesnt have at least 7 recalls on it, and some of the new half tons have 19(!) recalls on them, yet they're trying to put a ****ing stereo in the tailgate. This is just the final straw, if I could list some of the issues I see every day, it'd make your head explode. At least you can jam out to your favorite tunes while you push your new $70k p.o.s. "truck" onto the trailer.

I saw that option while looking at new 2500 trucks. I was well let’s see how many problems those kicker stereos will have. And for the record, I’m not buying a new 2500 at the prices they are asking. Way to many options to drive up price and it’s not worth it.

I swore off GM when they voided my warranty on a Yukon because I had a amateur radio installed. They just couldn't fix the vehicle and were looking for a way out. Lost a life long customer over that deal.

Next up is tailgate heaters, ya know in case it’s cold outside and you have to push your truck.

Think of it as job security :D

These new rigs with all their options are a prime example of living in excess. These options and prices with new vehicles is out of this world. If i spend anywhere near the money it costs for a new truck it'll be on a piece of dirt.

I don't need any more job security. An example: The new trucks and SUVs are breaking valve springs while they go out on test drives with potential customers with under 100 miles on them. Apparently a bad batch. gm's fix? Replace just the one bad valve spring, even though the engine was assembled with all 16 of them from the "bad" batch. Guess what happens after the next guy (obviously not the guy who went on the test drive) buys the truck? That's right, about 100 miles later, we replace another valve spring. Then another a little later...... The lucky ones when this happens have head damage and we replace the whole thing.

As long as you option your new truck like a truck. they're not that expensive. I ordered this guy last summer. $43,000.

I got a kick out of there 1/2 tonleaf spring issue around 2015ish. If it was replaced under warranty GM supplied the single broken spring in the pack. If it was customer pay only the entire leaf pack could be sold.. Lube 'em up!

Another fine example: On the new Suburbans/Tahoes/Yukons, the shifter is a push button situation, as is the starter button, and the 4wd selection is electric. We've had them get stuck in park. So, you can power up the truck, and then you can steer. But it won't roll because the trans defaults to park. So then you climb under it and put it manually into neutral, but you can't power it up at that point, so you can't steer. So you can either push it straight or steer after it breaks, but not both at the same time.///All the push button shift gms also default to park and won't come out of it when any door is open, so just imagine what happens when you or someone you love is up in the woods/middle of nowhere and you get a faulty "door ajar" message? That's right, hike your a$$ out. Hopefully it isn't blizzarding. I wouldn't trust these dipsticks to manufacture a 3.5 hp push mower that could mow my lawn for 30 minutes without breaking.

Bosses NEW 1500 pretty loaded with 6.2L, nice truck. Took family to Florida with 4000 miles on it. Made it back to Kentucky lost valve spring. They reported caused damage to lower engine as well? Gave him a loaner and said it would be a month. I wonder if they will delivery it or make him go back and get it?:eek::)

We've seen around 10-15 of them with the valve spring issue. He's "lucky", he's getting a whole new engine.

Read a story in a training manual about 750IL BMW. No crank, no start. After two weeks and three shops attempts at diag, turned out that the stereo unit was NG, Body Control Module went into "Oh Crap" mode and told the ECU that there was a problem. ECU says "Nope. No joy till the radio is fixed." The bleeding RADIO parked the car!

People don't understand that almost none of the buttons & switches inside their vehicle connect directly to anything except the ECU, the BCM or the TCM. Even the damn window switches on power windows go through the BCM. Craziness.

I bought a 2020 Silverado, which I hate now. When I test drove the original truck I wanted at the dealership, all the dash lights lit up and it defaulted into limp home mode. They took it into the service department at least 5 times and never could figure out the computer problem, so I ended up with the only other Silverado they had left... generic white. Ole whitey hasn't died on me yet, finger's crossed.

Fortunately my '82 is long off warranty, but I have installed an amateur radio as well. Good to know. I guess my next truck will be a Dodge or a Ford. Sad.

My 017 Silverado had or has a extended 10 year 150,000 mile warranty on the fuel injection system.
Brought it in at 32,000 miles for random misfire. Was told I need efi service and upper engine cleaning. 200/100=$300 total.
    Said it was my responsibility.
I laughed, we had a conversation and I left it.
They did it under warranty was told.
2000 miles later misfires and light blinks sometimes others stays on same code P050 and P0300 again.
Bring it in and light was off.
Told writer, same clown. He said I must pay $150 up front and they will check for codes.
I told him they are in the computer stil.
He said 150 or forget it.
I told him of the extended warranty on truck.
He will not answer unless I pay for repair.
I said forget it and left.
Cleared codes constantly for next 4 months and gave it back. The minute I returned it light came on so I cleared it.
Last month it was on and off almost every day.
And the transmission was always lost.
Sad day indeed. 26000 buyout I was hoping for.
Dealer did not want to do the fuel injectors.
Pays pittance. They want to clobber you by me.
As of now no racing this season s the truck prices new and used. It’s stupid.
