Average is now 10.73. We're flying aren't we. Get some more votes in on this once, it may make a good magazine topic. "Average Buick Runs 10's." It would sure make some jaws drop.
Just a little incentive to step up to the plate.  I'd be cheering you on.:beer Won't let me vote again. I polled a 10 & 12 for the GN & GS earlier.
The "Science project" is moving along, as I got the heads back from the polisher last week, and they are now in development. Your new T&D pairs are in also.. will be a nice setup.. Program right now is to fully port and exhaust or two, and deterimine how far they will go, to keep the intake/exhaust relationship from getting too lopsided. We already know where the intake can go. Just today conferring with another board member, who has had more aluminum cylinder head chips in his hair, than he prolly cares to admit.. We will get 'em... JW
15.27 at 91 MPHo No: Yeah I know its slow, but you should have seen me building the car with no $$$$. Beggged, borrowed and nearly stole to get this far. Next year its fourteens or BUST!
Too many excuses. Get Faster! Think about it this way. Time to beat them democrats (or repubicans depending on your viewpoint). So lets hurry it up and do some thrashing. Take it out on a Ford or Mopar if you can't identify someone from another party, and lets hear it in the kill stories. HAHA.
12.07 @ 109.49 is my best to date, but wait 'till next spring. TA roller cam and some more head work (finished 4 days after the last race of the year) should make things interesting. 11.90's @ 4500 lbs plus? I sure hope so. I hope I have to put the mufflers on to slow it down to a 12.0 to meet the rollcage rules. -------------Mark D.
Once I get my 350 back from Jim Burek I should be running in the 12's, it should be a month or so until it's done since I finally got my Wiseco pistons in. He has them posted on his webpage for use as an advertisement, so us 350 guys can move up in power.
Bummer, I was hoping for an average in the 12's!!o No: o No: (or better!! :TU: ) Not up to Her potential, but when I was still running several years ago, I ran DEAD consistent 12.20's @ 110mph with a BEST of 12.09 @ "only" 106. (stupid bracket racing:blast Then I found out that my valve stem heights were WAAAAY OFF!! Some of the exhaust valves were more than 200 thou. difference from the rest of the valves!! ou: WTF?? It ran MUCH BETTER after I got that fixed, but unfortunately I never got any times, o No: I would guess 11.50's?? I hope to get her running again, better than ever, early-mid next year!:TU:
loser a stock '77 Estate Wagon 350 4 barrel auto. can beat my stock '72 'Lark Sun Coupe 350 2 barrel auto. 2.56 geared:ball:
How about starting a "How much does your Buick weigh?" poll, then we could maybe correlate/compare lbs/hp, another area in which Buicks should rule... Actually, we should prolly gather info on weight, cid, and time. Can the board handle that? James
The car in my avatar went some 14's at the Nats in Columbus but most of y'all will best remember it going high 17's in BG and winning my bracket class or wearing them out in the gambers races. I hated to run a bolt behind the carb but traction was wonderful and it was deadly consistent esp. in Bristol. I had to run Rob Chileski in Bristol in the gamblers race and won but he had to wait a long time. My high 17 to his mid 9 second run made him wait about 8 seconds! Man I know they hated it! But this car was sold this year at the Nats before I got a chance to race it. But I kept the throttle stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
'74 javelin (amc) My dad put a bigger carb, took off the air pump, and made the air cleaner open-element type and he says his '74 Javelin can run 14-flat in the quarter. engine- 220HP 360v8 (stock rating) 4-speed, 3.43s (he forgot to mark the 3.18(?) econo-gear when he ordered it ). He also says it'll smack a SRT-4, and they're fast as heck, although it's just a mitsubishi. What happened to a real dodge? I personally doubt 14-seconds in the quarter for it. Of course, he timed it via stopwatch. So a 14.7 would be much more feasable, but 15s would be legitimate for it.
