I'll start- What US car maufacturer's emblem has 4 ducks in it? Remember- no cheating! You cant look it up!
Very good! :beers2: I never knew this but they're actually called "Merlettes". I found this on the web- Merlettes: Mythical birds used in the coat of arms designed by Antoine Laumet, self-styled Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, founder of Detroit in 1701. Martlet in English, the latter bird belongs to the martin family. Webster says it is probably a deformation/alteration of martinet, being a diminutive of the martin. Not a duck, for sure, but certainly a bird that lives close to water. See also Coat of Arms. In the Fall of 1999, Cadillac announced the first change in its shield-and-crest emblem design since 1963; the new design [below, far right] was used first in Cadillac advertisements, in 1999, then on the cars themselves in 2002, that year being the 100th anniversary of the first Cadillac automobile. The new emblem became slightly wider and flatter; the 4-quartered shield in the traditional colors of red, black, silver, gold and blue all remained but the seven-pointed crown above it was removed, as were also the heraldic birds or merlettes. Anyone have another trivia question??
False- GM bolt patterns are 5 on 4 3/4 and 5x5 Ford and Chrysler share the same pattern- 5 on 4 1/2 Bonus info- Chrysler had a 5 on 4" pattern on the Dusters and Darts
it's true, I have a pair of 5x5 GM wheels on the rear of my daily driver 1977 Ford LTD. I had a set of new studded mud/snow all season tires, on 5x5 GM wheels. (they came with my '76 Electra) just for fun I tried putting one on, and it fit perfectly (I had to remove the studs in the tires first)
I believe that the Chevrolet 5 x 5 wheels will fit ford and dodge, but not the other way around because the center diameter of the Chevy is bigger. -Josh
I had to cheat and look it up: dont look unless you give up! http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/cup/03/09/toyota.first.win.atlanta/index.html
After Maxwell, Walter P. also acquired the Dodge Brothers Company. Among other things, Dodge Brothers was famous for it's star of David trademark. The Dodge brothers were not Jewish. There was a story that they had borrowed a large sum of money from a Jewish banker. The trademark was either at his insistance, or to honor him. Does anyone know for sure where the six-pointed Dodge trademark came from? (Not a bad trivia question in itself).
Ransom E. Olds A Speedwagon was a fire truck. What do the 3 points of the Mercedes star logo represent?
