I will admit I have not read all the posts yet so excuse me if I repeat something.

The way I see this is its time to move to new forms of motivation.

Hydrogen & hybrids seem to be a excellent way to go.

"where does the energy come from?"

    Thermodynamics
    Solar
    Wind
    Hydrodynamics

With that right there we should have no problem getting energy & converting it.

If the government isn't changed to getting rid of lobbyists and having term limits in Congress, I agree with you, nothing tax-wise will work. I'm not normally for regulating business, but in the case of this energy crisis (for us consumers, that is), the regulation would come in the form of forcing some of the ridiculous profits back into funding realistic alternate sources (aka- competition). Competition and consumer choice have a funny way of altering market dynamics. Right now there is no realistic alternative to fossil fuels, therefore no consumer choice, therefore monopolistic pricing. This is not a supply and demand issue.

Yep, unintended consequences! If we could burn water in our cars, don't think we would ride for free. It would be taxed somehow. In fact, we are already being told to conserve water! It would probably cost us just as much as we are paying for gas! :eek2:

Hmmmm.... I must have been sleeping that day. I wasn't the best college student but I did completely enjoy the college "experience". :Do No:

OK, find an alternate way to reduce fuel useage of gas guzzling yachts. I live in a coastal area and see some of these monsters. They make an SUV seem like a Prius! I'm not sure I could afford to even motor from the slip to the end of the harbor on some of these big guys!

Anyway, I know my original post isn't perfect, but I was trying to think of ways of decreasing useage of fossil fuels through conservation and accelerating new technology to provide alternative energy sources.

Why do you think there are lobbyists? Because the government, and in turn the politicians, have too much power. who allowed them to have all of this power? Voters who think they are going to get something for nothing from the politicians. If the government was held to its constitutional limits of power. It wouldnt pay to be a lobbyist. The answer isnt to limit terms or free speach, the answer is to take back all of the power that the power grabbing politicans have siezed, with the help of the corrupt judicial system.

If the mob voted for the government to regulate your business, wouldnt you want to be ablity to "lobby" the politicians who regulate your business?

The whole thing is maddness, ............ alice in wonderland $h1t.

The people who produce the gas that goes in your fuel tank are portrayed as the evil ones, and the government/politicians who do nothing to provide energy but profit the most from it are the saviors? WTF?

Big oil is doing what all other businesses do-passing the costs onto the consumer. They really are not the ones at fault. Greedy government is at fault. Not much we can do though. The Bankers own the lands and everything in the country-(1933)Roosevelt's EO's,Acts signed into law, etc, turned over all the assets of this country over to the creditors of the bankruptcy. The Bankers own the IMF,which is our treasury now (1944). IMF is an agency of the UN. The Bankers own that company. Our gov. is run by the IMF/UN through the Bretton Woods Agreement(1944). There is a lot of oil located within the continental USA. It's mostly off limits for some reason and has been since Roosevelt's terms. We could be mostly self sufficient, but for some reason,it doesn't seem to be allowed. The government here works for the Big Bankers, not for me and you.

A home based system for every house that uses wind and solar for the electricty to make the hydrogen(and also oxygen) from purified water is feasible now.....i don't type well enough to explain all of it to you in this forum but it's do-able now ................

That sounds just like the sytem Im using to power my buick. I just cant seem to find a flux capacitor anywhere. I guess all of the oil companies bought them up.

I offered my solution, reduce the scope and power of government. Its simple really, maybe to simple I guess.

That's is one reason I would like to see Ron Paul get elected. A Constitutionalist and all for limited government.

But,someone like Paul could not be elected. The bankers must have someone that they can control. After all, they do not want the real truth of the 1933 bankruptcy and what it means for us, to be common knowlege. Look at this short vid clip and you may get some understanding. We are indebted for life to these bankers and there is no room for a Constitutional Republic. They run what's called our government. The government and the bankers manipulate ,to their advantage, our consumption, including energy. They do this by manipulating the markets/comodities, by inflation, by taxation, by restrictive laws on everything and many other ways. They do control the masses. Believe it or not.

I know..... if he just wasn't so nutty, I'd vote for him. In fact, I think I did when he ran as a libertarian. In my defense, I dont think he was as nutty then. Or maybe I was nuttier myself.

We sell 1.5 MILLON gallons of gas to other countries EVERY DAY. If they Really cared about production problems within the US, they would tell those countries to build there own refineries.

I am not smart enough to solve the energy price problem, but I do have a few observations that I would share:

    1. The United States is supposed to be a free country. I'll make a deal with
you - you don't tell me what to drive and I won't tell you what to drive.
(This is why we were in Normandy on June 6, 1944)

    2. Beware of unintended consequences. Someone earlier mentioned that
(I think) in the Carter days a luxury tax was placed on certain
items with a value of over $35,000. The fat cats easily could afford
that! The result? Sales of boats, airplanes, and high end cars tanked.
The workers that made them - folks just like most of us - were put
out of work. Light aircraft sales have not completely recovered to this
day. The fat cats went on vacation to Europe. It was the little guy
who got screwed (as usual). Remember the words of Ronald Regan:
"If you tax something, you get less of it; if you subsidize something
    you get more of it."

    3. Corporations do not pay taxes. They pass them along as an operating
expense to the end user (us). Raise the taxes on a business and
prices will rise and/or workers will be canned.

    4. The American dollar has tanked in value when compared to other
major curriencies. Whetever you think about the Iraq war, there is
the fact that we have borrowed $4 trillion to pay for it. The US
national debt is now $9 trillion and rising. That's $1,500 for every man,
woman, and child in the US in interest at 5% simple, every year,
forever - without touching the principal. Got any bright ideas how to
pay it off? Over $1 per gallon of gas is simply because of the decline in
the value of the dollar due to the huge national debt.

    5. Americans are paranoid about nuclear power. They don't want wind
turbine farms in their backyard. We haven't built a new oil refinery in
this country in decades. So much for "alternative energy".

Stop giving everything away to people who don't live here.

Put a "fair tax" into action so we can tax the drug money. seems to be the only thing other countries give us ..Illeagal immigrants & drugs.

    Collect debts owed to us.

Get rid of the fat cat politicians who have been bleeding this country dry.
