    We're just talking Letters not White Wall or Red Line tires.

    Post pics and vote if you prefer Letters in or Letters Out and if there is a difference on Convertible and Hard Top models.

    This '70 Stage 1 Stick vert has always struck me as "mean" looking. I can not pinpoint if it is the Diplomat Blue with White guts or it sits higher for some reason (70 Series Tires?) and / or if it is the letters out?

    Black wall, outline letters (no white)... No need to have people thinking that BUICK is a high performance car. (Just kick their @$$ anyhow)

    I tend to like the Letters Out on hardtop cars or a car that has some white visible as it accentuates the look and it looks more "hot rod" or fast just sitting there.

    MY option was not available- thin pillar coupe (California GS), white letters in. I bought a set of TA radials and made the mistake of having the white letters out. They didn't clean them well at Costco, and in retrospect, I would have preferred to have them BLO. It took a pile of scrubbing to get them where they are now. Next time, probably 10 years from now, I'll do it the other way around.

    Pics man! Our group needs to see it all.

    BTW, Westley's Bleche-Wite is the end all be all for "white tire work" http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2420273

    I like the raised white out.

    As long as it is a solid white, I don't like the outline whites.

    I mount outline whites in.

    SInce this is really an opinion thread, here's mine. Letters only look good on cars that came with rally wheels from the factory. The exception would be outlined letters, they look bad on everything. Letters look great on the `70-up GS cars with factory rally wheels but bad on cars with wheels covers or poverty caps. I think white letters look a little out of place on the early cars that never had them originally, but again, this is an opinion. One last thing, no lettered tires on aftermarket mag wheels, no exceptions. It detracts too much from the appearance of the wheels and makes the wheel/tire combo look too busy.

    I vote for IN. RWL look ok while the car is parked. I hate the way they look when they're rolling. Looks like white walls on a muscle car. Yech.

    Just got my blackwalled smoothies from diamondback tire today. No lettering of any kind. Nice clean look. Putting them on my 69 wagon on weld draglites with adapters made by steve reynolds of SRE and hubcaps.

    The front fenders and hood are off at the moment, I'm doing a little body work. I'll see if I can scare up some pictures. Probably on the weekend. I've used Westley's before, thanks for the reminder. That'll get the rest of the blue right off.

    I think it depends on the car.

    I just replaced the perfectly workable tires that were mounted letters in on the GS(X)with a new set mounted letters out.

    I don't think I would even consider letters out on the Wildcat.

    {oops - just reread the question - the Wildcat is out of scope}

    I still think it depends on the car though. Some look right in, some look right out.
