Oh, I definitely haven't lost interest! Just took it a little easy this winter on working on it, but did a few things. It'll be back out prowling the streets soon enough.
My setup is a bit unique. I don't have the pan/seal type setup. I may fab one eventually, but tried something a bit different. I wanted an open element filter, and since I'm running an sp1 with a 1" spacer (well, it was a spacer to start. Now it's been replaced with a nitrous plate) hood clearance was obviously tight. But where it got tricky was I wanted to filter to protrude slightly above the hood, and wanted as big a diameter filter as possible, but didn't want to hack out my hood bracing too much. So I found the conical filter and it fits the bill perfectly. Snug to the hole in the hood without interference and sticks up about 2". Here are some pics. Shows it protruding The actual setup I may fab a sealed pan later, but this is working out nicely and its simple/clean. Plus the angle on the filter not only gives it more surface area, but in theory it draws air down, not just from the sides. Does it really make a difference? Doubt it. But if nothing else it makes for some good conversations! Haha Here's the only pic on my phone that you can see the underside of the hood with the bracing (and it is a bit of a shameless plug for the award it won at bpg last year, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly proud about it). But if you zoom in on the hood you can see what I mean.
Haha, "just a Skylark". Riiiight. From what I know of the new mill, alot of folks could fall victim to "just a Skylark".... Can't say I've seen those valve covers before Paul, pretty trick!

I'm curious. It's been quite awhile since I contacted the OP about buying his car when he posted it for sale, here. Did anyone ever end up buying that car?
That is exactly what I was trying to do, but was a bit worried about hacking the hood bracing too. What kind/# is that filter??? I was just going to hack thru the bracing, but if I can avoid that, it'd be awesome. Have you driven it in heavy rain on the highway with that setup? That's my only worry, of course I don't plan to drive it in the rain, but down south you get pop up storms out of nowhere sometimes!
