The code should be on the tag, which is on the firewall or cowl, on the driver's side. Its two letters, one for the body, one for the top. Actually, scratch that, in 1972 I believe it would be two numbers. I don't know many off the top of my head... In 1966, TV is my car, saddlemist with shell beige top. In 1970, QQ is Saturn Yellow with Saturn Yellow top. 7575 on a 72 car would be Fire Red, Fire Red. Here's the 72 chart: http://www.teambuick.com/reference/years/72/72paint.html
Looking at your pics, it looks like paint code 73, Vintage Red, a Riviera only color. Top is 11, Arctic White. Unless its a vinyl top, then it would be A, for white vinyl top.
oh as always that only took a second or so:blast:...no by the time i found it he was asking $4500.and not willing to move much but was able to get him down about what it cost me to have it carted back to tampabay.after seeing this thread i can see why he didnt want to come down.he had already been beaten down a long ways from what he wanted.$10,000 .was well worth the trip for what i paid to me but 10k was a bigbig stretch.
I agree. $10k once it was cleaned up and restored, sure. But it looked like it needed more than one trip to the car wash. The braket on the center console? Custom radio? Uggh. edit: oh ya and the custom antenna. I hope that isn't drilled through. G-ma liked her CB? Oh the bracket makes more sense now...did G-Pa drive semi?
no the antenna wasnt drilled luckily.it was clamped on but the bracket on the console i have some holes to fix.bad part is they drilled through the chrome strip on the console on one side.it definitly needs alot more than a cleaning although after doing that the interior is in great shape.i got a wow from the local retoration shop thats gonna fix the driver seat this weekend.then gonna die it back to original color.beside that seat on the outer edge the seats and trim panels are nice.found a nos door mirror and nos drivers glass "badly scratched up" last week.also replaced the carb and put a quickfuel ss735 on it and its running alot better.will be doing the body and paint at my shop and shouldnt take to long to get it looking nice again.then the engine next year which if all goes well it will be sweet.should be registered and on the road in a week or so though. thanks for the heads up on the color codes fellas.
Love this thread and happy to see it come full circle to the right hands. An unmolested '71-'72 Riv GS is my dream car. I would sell my '71 Riv and my '80 Coupe deVille to own the right one. Congrats! -Josh

Been awile but have finally gooten somewhere with it.some of you wont like it but its not gonna be all original.theres alot of work it needs all over.all the cancer is gone, split the front bumper, handmaking a billet grill now.the top and tail is primed cut in and fitted.getting rid of mody molding cause some were so damaged.the color isnt to far from original.march serpentine setup, all msd, poston covers and matching girdle pan with polished fins, quickfuel carb,68 stage 1 valved big port heads, also the originals need work but there factory installed stage 1 heads.still need to rebuild the bottom and get my pistons and cam.i think i have a problem building cars once i get started.luckily the interior is almost pristine.only change is the dash and column are now the exterior color.terracuda pearl.will try to load some pics soon.
