So you come here and ask for help and then put it on Craigslist without offering it here first? Nice guy.
Yes, I did put it up on Craigslist. I did have it for sale in the classifieds area on this site but the forum administrator deleted it. I believe $10,000 for an all original (including original paint) 1972 Buick Riviera GS w/ Bucket Seats and no rust at all is more than fair. I did some checking and found that show quality condition all original 72 Riviera GS will sale for $15,000 - $20,000. This car will not be show quality condition when I'm done with it, but it will be a very clean all original car. Plus it was my Grandmas car! I'm positive my Highschool English teacher grandmother never hot rodded it around town, and I'm also positive my pickup driving grandfather would never have driven it, so it was babied. But who knows, maybe my grandmother was a closet case weekend drag strip mama... LOL Plus the completed transaction clean Riviera GS's on Ebay sold for $7000 - $8000; and we all know that cars sell for 20% - 30% less in Ebay auctions. All kidding aside thanks for all the help and pushing me to keep original for someone who will appreciate it.
Playing up the sympathy of buick knucklehead community.........oh please, I'll give you 25k for it, just please....don't hurt it!!!:spank:
It was deleted because you wouldn't put a price on it, even after multiple posters told you it was the way the For Sale section works here. You were fishing for offers, hoping to create some bidding war. Take it to Barret Jackson cleaned up and call it a survivor, maybe you can get your 10k out of a drunk bidder.
Actually Fred, I was not aware of the sales price policy within the classifieds section at first, and within 5 - 6 hours of when I placed the ad, I posted a price: the ad was still taken down after. If I do not sell it or have a serious buyer between now and when I complete the reconditioning (30-60 days), I will post it back in the classifieds section, but before I post it back up on this forum I want it completely clean and pictures inside, out, top, and bottom. You are also correct in assuming I want top dollar: I may or may not get it. However, I have an extremely clean all original car, I know everything/history about the car, and if I cannot answer a question I can call my grandmother to find out, so I believe it is worth top dollar. I also do not need to flip quickly, I can wait.
I guess you Texans do have thick skin! So by now you have figured out that we Buick owners do have passion for our cars, so we will forgive you for being a newby and making a few mistakes, if you will forgive us for being a little grouchy:rant: sometimes.o No:
Good luck with your sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...temZ320502537207QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks#v4-36
Rogbo, Not necessarly thick skinned; just use to the bashing that goes down on most online forums, as you can see my opening line in this thread. Most forum owners are truly just trying to give out information and it is sad to know as a forum owner that 2/3 of registered/frequent lookers will never post out of fear of being bashed. For example: My wife would cry if she was bashed on a forum. I would call it desensitized. Everyone playing nice = more people posting = more free information Batcar, That is the condition I will have it in when cleaned up. However, mine will have leather and the original paint job.
Thats the one I noticed most when I explained above about completed auctions. that one is a nice example and a nice color. went for $8100.:TU:
Good Luck with your sale. After reading this thread, in my opinion for you it's the best thing to do. Hopefully you'll atleast have taken your "Gram" out for a ride before you count the money. :TU:
