Hey Mike, Just for fun would you be willing to give me the specifics of your engine so I can put them into my Desk Top Dyno? Gary Kubish and I put the numbers into these programs before he finished his car and so far they have been very close. Specs Needed Bore Stroke Compression Cylinder head flow Camshaft Carb size Thanks
Yeah........about 3 years abo the 'puter said my car would run 9.72@136....so far it's been 9.71@137..... Boy I spent alot os cash to prove the computer right...... Same program had my motor at 777hp at 6500rpm and 684tq at 5000rpm. I never used to believe in these programs, but this one has proven itself at least 4 times now.
is this gonna be like "the price is right" where you have to be the closest without going over?....... and if you get within 100 total on the numbers you win BOTH showcases?(please help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered)
Hey John, While your punching in numbers .. try this one out.. Bore - 4.350 Stroke - 4.150 Compression - 13.40 Cylinder head flow -- Here --> http://www.trishieldperf.com/competition.htm (the TE heads at the bottom of the page) Camshaft - Intake .584 lift / 267* duration Exh- .640 lift - 276* duration - 109* LC -- Roller -- 1150 CFM Dominator Other things .. windage tray, vacuum pump system It will be interesting to see what it says. I will know what the dyno says tomorrow afternoon. JW
  I would lke to change my guess to XXX hp and XXX tq. Wouldn't you all like to know what I know.:moonu:
Jim, That engine is a work of art!!! Below is a link to a spread sheet with your dyno numbers that my Desk Top Dyno 2000 spit out..... http://members.cox.net/staged70lark/Jim W.doc Mike, Sorry... I was not on line last night to chat with you. But my AOL IM name is Stage70Lark. When you get me the specs I will put them into the program. Let me know what you guys think.
I would also have to agree with the accuracy of Desktop Dyno. It said my car would do 12.93 at 104. My best last year was 12.94 at 105 mph. This year supposed to be a 12.42 at 114. We'll see.................
AND THE WINNER IS?????!!!!!!!!!!!! First before I start to tell you all what happened I want to take this time to say THANK YOU to Eric Ruge, Mike @ TA Performance, and of course Gary Stinnett for all the fun I had today. Just for the record Mike and Eric worked very close together to help this project come to a speedy end, and with awesome results!!!! On the first pull to 6000 he shuts it down and says "oh oh" I was panic'ed for a second then he says "his dyno wasnt dropping the rpm down like it should for the torque readings. So we stop adjust the dyno to flo more water so it will load the motor. Actually he did this EVERY SINGLE PULL!! He kept telling me I cant beleive this thing has that much torque at that low of RPM!!!:Brow: :Brow: (I can) He also said there was a 555 BBC on the dyno that made that kind of torque but it was at 6000 rpm!! Anyway the torque reading we got was taking at the very first reading at 4600 rpm and it was on the down side it never went up. So that tells me that my torque should be more at 4500 than at 4600 . (in theory) uzzled: Then I was shown that even the valve cover vents were robbing me of hp (9 to be exact) I had crankcase pressure bad I guess. Now we also took out the intermediate bleeds on the carb and set the timing (thats right its correct too) You guys getting wound up yet???????  Ok heres the numbers 4600 rpm 801.9 Torque 6300 rpm 824.6 HP :beer  :Brow: :beer :Brow:  :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: Now if I could get traction !!!! I also see where a 373 gear is going to help me too..... The winners of this small contest are KINGFISH with 825 HP FREEDSTER with 795 torque Just send me a pm with your addresses I will mail out your stickers.
All I can keep thinking is...............That's like 9.40's in my car. Now,get that gear changed and let's see what it'll really run.
Heres a picture and a video link to follow later Heres one picture to tease you with This is Eric Ruge running the valves after we heated up the motor
Mike,,, AOL im me at Staged70Lark so I can get your specs. Nice numbers!!!!! Jim, Putting that engine in my 2800 lb Skylark with a T400 and a 4.11 gear should put the car into the 8.90s.
I have to ask, what does a motor like that cost to build/have built? I've love to put one in a 1979 4-door, robin's egg blue Skylark. Now that would have to be the ultimate sleeper.
Not including this freshen up deal I just paid for I have $22K in it all That includes transmission rebuild with ultra bell, 3.5 inch exhaust with X pipe, mufflers, and headers with jet hot coating.........
WOW!!! Uh, Mike, you also need to add in 20 bucks or so for a case of Pampers for your first day at the track. YOUR GONNA NEED'EM! You must be on cloud nine. :Brow:
Or he could put an 8000lb car solidly in the mid 12's. In other words, Mike could probably tow a couple of Hondas at a time into being 12-second cars. uzzled: ou:  Congrats on your new toy, Mike. I'll stop by and hear it run when I pick up my sticker. :TU: - Freed
