I cannot believe he got shot and killed he will be missed. I remember back in 1999 when those two kids in killed those kids at Colombime(SP) High school in Coloardo. They blammed Rammstein and Marylin Manson. I do not listen to Manson, But Rammstein is my favorite band. First off Rammstein is in German, I doubt those kids even understood what Rammstein was saying. The news media found out that those kids listened to Rammstein/Manson and made those two bands the scapegoat its not right.

I agree 100%. The bottom line is 4 people are dead, regardless of the gunman's motive, what type of music he listened to, etc.

I'm huge Sabbath fan, I have all the albums from the ozzy years. There ain't a violent song they play. some could possible be considered violent, bbut it would be a stretch. They were more into black magic. they wrote scary music, not violent.

Again, I'm not preaching, and I'm not talking about Bands like Sabbath or Judas Priest. I'm talking about Thrash Metal like Canibal Corpse, Selpultura, older Slayer, Mercyful fate etc.. These bands all sing about great stuff like decapitation, dismemberment, gutting people alive.

Now, I'm not saying that everyone who listens to this music is going to go out and start butchering people. But, when you hear and see images of violence over and over again you become hardened to it. Ask anyone who has been involved in hardcore combat.

Now, expose someone who may already have some underlying mental problems to this type of music and what do you think is going to happen? I think last nights violence answered my question.

Again, when you heavily expose people to violence, whether its in music or images etc.. you shouldn't be all that suprised when people begin acting out in a violent manner.

Like Ken says, Rap music is the same wayif not worse. The main population that it is geared towards (inner city black people) are emulating what they hear in this crap and now rape women indiscriminently and have no qualms of "putting a cap in your ass", because there favorite artist has glorified it.

Darrel Abbot was a great talent. I saw Panter in 1995 (?) When they played the Reunion tour with Black Sabbath. His guitar work was absolutely amazing. And his on stage intensity was overwhelming. When my dad told me this morning what happened I didnt believe him at first and then I read the news article and I couldnt say a word for about an hour. The thought of him being shot for no apparent reason was burned into my brain. I also read that Darrel's brother Vinnie was amond the wounded/dead. But Im not certain. Its a very sad day for any metal fan.

I was enjoying some Sabbath in the car today actually.
Seems to me their songs are more about the fight between good and evil. Good wins.
Or, man's folly of playing around with nuclear weapons and war.

When Ozzy and Judist Priest were hauled into court for the suicides of some of their fans, I thought it was insane to blame the music. How many people where found dead of suicide that had a Sinatra album on the turntable?
    "I did it my way"
To blame the music for someone's actions is ludicrous.

I've been a metal fan since I was 12, (1973) and never did the thought of being violent cross my mind, nor were any of my friends violent.

This guy who shot Dimebag had real problems. It wasn't the music that drove him to it.
I'm a fan of Pantera also, and think this is a shame.

From what I just heard on the radio, the shooter came in back stage, walked up to Daryl, gave him a big bear hug and then shot him point blank in the face twice. He also had ALOT of ammo with him so it would seem his intention was to take out several other people. His motive (just heard on the radio) was that he blamed Daryl for the break up of Pantera. Whether you like the music or not (I am a fan of metal) that's just no way to die and no one deserves to be a victim of this type of violence, including all the people in the club that were there to see the band perform.

There's some really sick people out there.

Ironic that Pantera just announced a reunion tour starting next month!

This worthless piece of work ended that possiblilty :af:

Huge Pantera fan from way back, as well as a fan of all type's of Metal
    Music.

You want to fix the problem......GUN CONTROL :Smarty:

I guess when I have thought's of going up on Stage and wasting someone,
it would have to be a country singer or Celine Dion
C'mon guy's, anytime someone is murdered like this it's a tragedy, it's not
like he was up on stage asking to be killed just because of the type of
music he played, and he sure as hell didn't deserve it!
How would you feel about it if he was a family member?

Shame that lives are wasted by being ended that way.
Just as much of a shame for a guy who is a washed up metal rocker with a nickname of "Dimebag" playing in a two bit club for a very small bunch of fans that are trying to re-live their youth and young drunk kids. The news here reported that the shooter was upset over the fact that the guy had disbanded the original band. When your own actions and lifestyle draw the attention of and profit from those that become your fans then you shouldn't be shocked that some of them come out of the woodwork every once in a while.

BELIEVE ME, nobody is more of a proponent of the theory that people are responsible for their own actions. NOBODY.

Those actions "also" include the very BS rap crap that you are talking about. It's violent garbage. And yes, it DOES make a very strong impression on very young "impressionable" kids. That's not "my" theory, it's fact.

Kids emulate these thugs and look up to them. Just like they look up to the "great" (gag) sports figures of our time crawling into the stands and fighting and cursing at their coaches. Those people also don't take responsibility for their own actions.

Like it or not, they deserve what they get. Yeah it's a free country, but abused freedom is worse than communism.

    Amen Ken!

This is from the Dayton Daily Newspaper this a.m.

"All day Thursday, fans left flowers and containers of beer by a boulder at the parking lot entrance, including a bottle of Rogue Dead Guy Ale and a six pack of Heineken with a marijuana bud tucked into the cardboard case.
About 200 people gathered for a vigil in the nightclub's parking lot Thursday night. At one point, a naked young man stood in the street, arms raised, cursing Gale (the shooter). He ran toward the crowd before he was tackled and arrested by Police."

How's that for a legacy? His fans are simply responding to all the messages and ideas he let them know he stood for. Sounds like he accomplished his goals in life. :Dou:
