I can't believe you're comparing Lennon to "Dimebag Daryl". What a waste of space. I don't condone shooting anyone for any reason, but it's not the biggest loss.

Exactly why do consider him a waste of space yet "seem" to revere Lennon as Godlike. Lennon Was a major drug user who cheated on his wife. He was an incredible talent as a musician and songwriter but he was just a man, Beatle or not.

BTW, I am a huge Lennon fan too.

I guess it's just my musical taste. I consider much of what Lennon did to be art. Can you really say Pantera is art with a straight face?
Yeah, Lennon wasn't exactly the greatest person either, but he was extremely musically talented.

Art is subjective, Dime was a great guitarist. To each his own :beer

    agreed.

I hate to see anyone killed. I guess I just don't understand his music so it doesn't seem right to me to compare him as a musician to Lennon. Still it's a loss to his fans.

  11. Check yahoo news.

Apparently the gunman was upset that the guitarist and drummer were responsible for breaking up Pantera. Great job buddy, shooting them to death is a sure fire way to get them back together!

This just flat out sucks. I'm going to miss their music.

You guys want to know the wierd part? The shooter lived here in my little town  . I live in a small town about 25 miles NW of Columbus. Nothing happens here, well at least nothing use to happen here. Downtown is filled with newstrucks, reporters, microwave links, etc. People here are just not use to this.

Nobody here really knows the guy who did the shooting. We're all just a little wide-eyed now. :jd:

One of the major problems with metal bands. They preach violence in there songs and then when violence comes, everyone is shocked.

In Chicago for shows like that they have checked people for weapons for years. At least since I was 16, and I am 35 now. I guess they will start doing that everywhere else.

I remember back in my youth I was into "post punk" (80s hardcore) and when ever a bigger name band came through, like DRI or Circle Jerks, it would attract the metal heads. Guess who was in the pit throwing all the punches trying to hurt people?? It sure wasn't the punks.

What a tradigy, but one that I have felt for along time was bound to happen sooner or later.

I wonder if it was some sort of beatle comparision.... afterall the beatles were the biggest rock band of their time, and pantera was a founder of that type of rock. odd he decided to shoot him on the anniversary.

I do feel bad for teh guy and his family the shooter is obviously some sort of deranged jack ass...

Compared to today's rap music scene, metal is like is like a cigarette compared to meth amphetamine.

"Almost" all rap promotes and displays woman as pleasure tools and glorifies crime and the gangta mentality. Metal would be a welcome relief to today's society if it was a s strong as it was in the old days.

I agree completely, but I don't know if the metal your talking about is the same as the metal I'm talking about. The lyrics by some Thrash/Death Metal bands would make the worst gangsta rap seem tame.

Well, thankfully, the kind you are talking about is not as popular as the rap crap. Otherwise, we "would" be in trouble. The metal I'm talking about it the Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath stuff.

C'mon you guys. What are you guys saying, that rap music and metal are responsible for violence? Thats complete BS. When are people going to be responsible for their own actions. I'm one of those people that listens to Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden etc. I don't have a violent bone in my body. People need to start looking inward and start blaming themselves.
