Chris, I wasn't aware of either of those cruises. Can you email me directions on where both those places are? I'd love to show up and help break up the Chevy monopoly. :)
    Thanks,

Was it a peer judged show or was it judged by real judges?

I've been there, I know how it feels. I will say this, however, a good chevy will take it anyday over the greatest AMC, Buick, or Mopar hands down in a peer judged show. Especially if it has a lot of chrome or a big motor and a flashy paint job. And some of these shows play favorites regardless of what was voted for. Having a friend whose running the show always helps.

I could tell some stories, believe me I could, but I don't want to get riled up all over again.:spank:

Chris, could you email me with some of this info? We need more "south side" stuff, and this looks interesting.

Tom - we usually have the Buick specific Rally cruises listed on our website as soon as they set their schedule. We put them in our newsletter, too.

Mike - I did't recognize the last name, but I do remember you from Mickeys. Maybe we'll get some warmer weather this yer, when we go there again!

Headed to KY to pick up a new engine for my GS today - this may be an exciting year!

    Have a good weekend!

I can't wait!!:Brow: As soon as cruisin season starts, let's get together. We usually cruise all around, different place each week. The first good show of the season is the Caz show. I took first in class there last year. Are you going Mike?

    And Cris, that's one gorgious '69 Riv!:TU:

I am not going if you are, I don't have a chance.

Just kidding, I have to limit the amount of shows that I attend each year because my kids are still young yet and the wife does not like me gone all day, every weekend (gotta keep the peace at home). I do like the check out the local shows as a spectator, this way the kids don't have to hang out all day.. Now I just need to get a directory of all the local shows in the area...

    P.S.
Joe, are you planning on attending the BPG Nats?

I'm not sure, there is a lot going on this summer. I've heard the ROA is going to have there annual meet nearby, and we are thinking of traveling to Reno this summer for Hot August Nights. We went in '02 and it was excellent.

How far away are the BPG nats? Sounds like we may go.:Brow:

    Joe,

Map quest shows 206 miles / 3-1/2 hours drive from Lancaster, NY.
That is to the Red Roof Inn @ Poland, OH 44514.

I will be attempting to bring my GS, I have never taken it on a long road trip yet, only short trips to cruise nights and shows..

Mike- I think we will be going. That's not very far by my standards, heck we made it all the way to flint last year. And besides, I'm anxious to meet people in person who belong to our website.

Your car should be OK if you have been driving it around for a while and it hasn't given you trouble. If you go without it, you'll wish you would have brought it.

The cooling system is the most important thing to have in A1 condition. Many people who had trouble last summer traveling to Flint had overheating problems. Even mine was running hot, it was hot outside that week and we had the a/c on for the whole trip. You can purchase a new radiator for less than it would cost you for a tow and repair on the road.

It might be a good idea to get a AAA membership just in case. I got one for Flint even though I never needed it. Cheap insurance I guess.:bglasses:

    Joe,

I plan on giving it a complete flush-n-fill before the trip, the inside of the radiator looks good. My worry is the slight growl that I have coming from my rear end :eek2: or I should say differential. I replaced the gear lube and added the posi additive but the noise persists. Its not a loud noise, just one that lets you know its there..:( I may have to take the car to see Carmen to see if he can diagnose it...

I may have to get the AAA membership just as insurance..:TU:

Check out the BPG web site for hotel info...

Probably no biggie, but always good to have it checked. Without hearing it, I'd only be guessing.

The rear end in mine is the posi from my old '66 and it has over 250,000 miles on it and has done that ever since day 1. It's hard to describe, sounds kinda like a whirring sound. I think it's just gear noise and it's really hard to hear, more noticible at speeds over 40 or 50. I used to worry too, but I think if it was a problem something would have happenned by now.

Last summer on the way home from a cruise, my a/c clutch bearing locked up- and I mean instantly-she started squeeling and smoke started pouring out even though I shut the engine down instantly. Man, was that clutch hot.....it was sizzling! I didn't even have the a/c on. We drove home with the a/c belts off, the water pump is driven off the p/s belt. What scared me was that we had just got back from Flint the week before. That would really have spoiled our trip.

The problem with cars is that you can check over everything, and if something is going to happen it will. Brand new cars even have troubles.:bglasses:

    Joe,

The sound that you describe is what mine sounds like... When I replaced the fluid I looked at the gear teeth and they seemed fine and there was not alot of metal in the fluid. My GS has its original 2.93 10 bolt posi with 89K miles.

I had another '68 GS with a 2.93 10 bolt posi that was quiet until I did a burn out when leaving "Rokies (Infield) cruise night, after that it was making the same whirring sound..:Dou:

    Cool Cars under the Stars

I live in Elmhurst, Illinois and from may to september every wed. night we have a car show in downtown. Our town is big with a pop. of 40k. Anyways each wednesday night is devoted to a special car or brand/type. Corvette night, pony car night, pre-world war 1 night, Buick pontiac olds and caddy night, Dust off night. Street legal and non street legal have come and are welcomed. I have gotten a few good looks and many bad at my 72 riv. One man said to his son, " hey this is what i drove when i dated your mother." And others just took one look at the engine and siad "oh everything needs to be re-done. I have noticed that we have many chevelles and non classics. Like 1990 and later. I have only seen 2 boattails but many other rivs. The cops use to let us drag at the stop light that led into a highway for even more fun!:3gears: But now they really dont let us. they have a motorcycle cop sit at every light. Anyways most cars shows can be fun. But i always stay be my car so it wont get hurt. Because there have been some incidents in the past. So i would say to go for it and have fun showing off your pride and joy to everyone. :TU: Hope this helps Trevor.
