Hi Scott, looks like you have something interesting going here. I would also be interested. I'm looking to upgrading my radio. I was thinking doing the kickpanel idea, but this seems much better. Put me in line too.

you could run the two in series and have 16 ohm. and in mono. should be safe for the stock radio.

    Scott,
I just posted a speaker question in the convertible section, and then found this post. I too would be interested in the speaker frame. I haven't taken the speaker out of the dash in the GS before -- is this a lot of work, duct removal, etc?

    I'm working on them, guys...

    Mr. Petty,
The dash isn't too hard to take off, you just have to be CAREFUL with it, as there are a few (3) "hidden bolts" underneath the dash that you have to make sure are removed, first.

2 are above the glovebox liner, and just above the lip of the glovebox door latch area.

1 is closer to the center A/C duct, underneath the dash.

After you remove those 3 nuts, you can pull the dash pad STRAIGHT BACK towards you, to release the dash clips.
If you can, CAREFULLY pull the dash pad, closest to the center A/C duct, so you DON'T BREAK the dash in 1/2, as the weakest part of the dash pad is the area that surrounds the gauges!:Smarty:

When the dash pad is removed, the center A/C duct has 2 small screws that hold it into the dash. Remove the 2 screws, and pull the duct out through the dash hole.

You now have easy access to your radio, and dash speaker, to remove and replace!

I'm trying to build as many as I can, just to get some done up ahead of time, and to improve my production time with them! As I build more, and sell more, I'm trying to buy bigger and better tools to help me make them more efficiently!

So far, I have 12 on order...

I'm doing the best I can, with the little time that I have to do them, but I'll get them out ASAP!:beer

I should have a good chance this weekend to maybe get 1/2 of them done, at least!:bglasses:

    Hey ric,
Can you show those pics Bigger, to see them better? Both of them look AWESOME!

I really like the way you did the Console, as it kind of blends right in with the lower dash!

    That's cool!:TU:

I'm building some custom (fiberglass) Door Panels for my 4 door, to add a 6.5" to EACH door (besides having the Kick Panels, Dash, Rear Deck and Trunk!)!:grin:

12 Speakers Minimum, 16 Speakers Possible, without sacrificing Interior Space!:bglasses:

I need to know who wants just a Frame (to mount your own 4" speakers), or who wants to send me a pair of 4" speakers for me to mount, and send back to you!

After your name, if you're interested, please put SEND or RECEIVE, so I know how to plan for building or shipping. :TU:

SEND Speakers TO ME, FIRST (and I'll mount them on a Frame, FOR YOU, and return them to you, ready to install in the car)

RECEIVE JUST THE FRAME, FROM ME (and you can figure out how to mount your own 4" Speakers in the Frame)

So far, requests that I have from:

Jeff Bullock (jeff bullock) SEND or RECEIVE?

    Randy (gnx396) SEND or RECEIVE?

Steve E. (71GS455) SEND or RECEIVE?

Bill Bell (12 lives) SEND or RECEIVE?

    Slawek (PolishBuickGuy) SEND or RECEIVE?

Nate (tlivingd) I think you asked for the Frame, itself, to install your own speakers, Nate, but I'd be glad to mount them up for you, if you already have a pair to send me. Either way, just let me know!:bglasses:

    (tpetty) SEND or RECEIVE?

    (LunaticDirtBika) SEND or RECEIVE?

I've got some already built, just waiting to finish them (if I need to WAIT for Speakers to install), or to SEND THEM OUT!

Just let me know, guys, however I can help, or whichever you prefer!:beer

scott just send 'em i'll figure out what i'd like to put in there. unless you happen to walk thru best buy or CC and see a set on clearance (pioneer, polk or other mid to higher end company. I see them all the time out this way on clearance.

    Whichever!:TU:

I always watch for deals, anyway, but if you want to buy a pair of whatever you want to use, I can send a frame out, and all you'll have to do is mount the speakers to the frame (with the 8 bolts and nuts, that I'll supply), install it in the dash, in place of the original speaker, hook up your wires, and ENJOY your new SOUND!:bglasses:

I'll get one ready to ship out for you, then!:TU:

I did the whole think through the radio space. I popped off the knobs and removed the srews in the bezel. There are a couple of screws in the radio bracket, but that's it.

    Randy,
I originally started building these for myself, just because I didn't want to pay $100+ for the Custom Autosound "junk" setup, and then I built a few more for some guys that asked.

I never expected so many other people would want them, too!

For the material, time, and TOOLS that it takes, I ask $30 plus shipping, for the Frame, without speakers.
(The hole saw that I use to cut the 4" speaker holes is $28, alone! Not including the cost of material, or the TIME that it takes to measure, form, and fit it, as the final Frame! )

If you send the speakers of your choice to me, I'll mount them on the Frame, and send them back to you, for no extra cost! (They MUST be 4" ROUND Door Speakers! They cannot be "4x6" rectangular, etc.!:Smarty::TU: )

I'm guessing $50 should cover the whole thing, $30/Frame and $20/Shipping.:Do No:

    :puzzled:

    Jamie,
That's a strange looking speaker, compared to what I usually install.:Do No:

A couple of questions for you:
What year car are you installing them in?
Do you happen to have an Original Dash Speaker from the car that you'll be using them in?

The Dash Speakers that I build are for '70-'72, but I don't know if they'll fit in '60s cars, as I'm not familiar with them.:Do No:

If you're going to use them in the '69, and the Dash Speaker is the same, or close enough, to the '70 Speaker, then I can build it for you, no problem.

If it's not the same, but you have the Original Dash Speaker taken out of the car, you could send it to me, and I'd just use the measurements to build a new one to replace it, and then send it all back to you!

I'll get your number, and call you, so we can discuss more details, so I can figure out how I can help you finish it.:TU:

If I buy three frames without speakers will the shipping be the same as for one or will it be $20 per frame? Also, do you have any speaker frame support brackets that support the speaker in the dash? Thanks!

    Hey Randy,
I can make 3 frames for you, and probably send them all at once, in one box, and I'm only guessing that $20 should cover ONE package.

I don't do much shipping to know actual costs, but the frames hardly weigh anything, and the packages are small, so I figure that $20 should be enough to cover it.:Do No:

Is there a way online to calculate shipping charges from one zip code to another zip code, for a more exact estimate?:Do No:
If so, I'd rather use that, so I could know better, myself, instead of just guessing.:Smarty:
