I wasted the first round with a -.001 red light against a .271 light. I never had a -.001 before and I swear the green came on for a micro-second and then went red. The '69 is a mystery right now because my mph is going away while the ET is hanging around. I need to look into that. Got a nice shot of DeCordre in round 1.
Nice shot for sure.... Valve springs maybe Mike?....my car needs springs and goes 134-135 whether air is good or bad...used to go 138-139 on good cool days....acts like a governor, I suspect mild valve float holding it back........500 passes, I'm putting new ones in soon
This saturday is Modern Hemi race....with a twist...other brands invited. GM, Ford. Not sure if my Jag is allowed. Might run 12.50 in my SunCoupe. Guaranteed payouts look real good. They have TONS of sponsors so the $$$ is there.
Looks like I had the only BUICK powered car there last Saturday. Qual #4 with a 10.015, then went 10.017 1st rd, 10.02 2nd rd....not bad after sleeping all winter. Ended up going out 3rd round, tree took forever to flash (PRO tree) I flinched...thought I saw the light and then blinked with a lousy .100 light and ran out 9.94...air changed from -880 ft to +120 ft, so I took weight out....apparently too much..... A buddy of mine blew his new $15k 800hp small block 8sec car....he puts a cap on his fuel vent for 2 gal fuel cell over the winter so no race fumes in garage. Forgot to remove it. Ran out of fuel and torched a piston or two....ventilated the oil pan..... He tried to think that no vent was not issue but I tried to tell him....no air in means little or no fuel out. But that's me...I tell it like it is but sometimes people don't want to hear it.....
Tough going against trans-brake cars with my low stall (relatively) and 3.50 gears on PRO-tree. I did take some travel out of my front end to try to help reaction time. I may have my son drive....he plays drums and his foot is quick! But....I have like 700 passes on motor and don't want anything to happen while he is driving.
A few pics from last saturday (7/2). Brandon was going rounds in 8.50..... I got a little too excited and redlit on PRO tree for first time. Took travel out of front end and it reacts quicker.... Didn't think it would run 10.00 so had to cut a light ended up running 9.96 at 2950 DA deep staged.
#1 qualifier last weekend, got BYE 1st rd, then gave up the finishline by .01 on the brakes in semis. That's racin.....
Tied for 5th at Cecil. This race was at US13. They are trying 8.50, 10.00, 11.50 and Ultra Street but turnout not good due to people not wanting to deal with beach traffic. A few guys did come down from Philly and NJ. Payout for semis was supposed to be $60 which is weak anyway but they said since turnout not good....20 bucks. Oh well paid for my food..... I know it's not about the money but there were alot of spectators ($$$) for the Promods.
Had an odd 2nd round....had been talking to the guy I was about to run. He was saying how he shortened the throw on his trans brake button and now cutting much better lights. I think he was trying to get in my head...I said I had no trans brake...he seemed surprised. Nice kid in his 20s.....said it was a honor to race me....never heard that before but then again I have been racing 40+ years....did make me feel good but also old.... Anyway we do our burnouts and he goes right in I mean right in....went in so fast I never saw his pre-stage light....just deep and bottom bulb on before I even pre-staged. Beyond double bulbing. I ease in but don't do as many bumps as normal thinking the tree would be fast since he was in so long. I cut a late light and he has a .013....I was 10.01 on 10.00 but couldn't take finish. Was thinking of talking to him to see if he did all that on purpose or by accident but just loaded up and went home....
Which car was your second round? Lost first round to blue box nova. I had little Late light. He was right on and His .10.012 to my 9.98.
