Yep, I looked for work for a while. I was 58 when I was laid off due to outsourcing. Most places wanted to pay an entry level wage for my 30+ years of experience. That and they wanted me to travel excessively, be in the on-call rotation or relocate more than 100 miles away. I looked at local interesting jobs that were way below my skill level because they were cool. I applied at Holley as a regular network engineer so I could get the company discount. As it turned out, they wanted a network engineer with extensive server experience and a lot of DBA experience. All for the low, low wage of 1/2 what I was making. They added the DBA and server requirements AFTER the ad was placed and the recruiter called me to setup interviews.
Thats the kicker there, get paid one third of what you were making IF they hire you IF your not too old
