Last night I searched summitracing.com for GM HEI distributors and found a couple for the 350. The application guide for them said the distributors would fit Chevy, Buick, and other GM vehicles with a 350. Is This possible, can the buick fit the same distributor as the chevy?:idea2:

Unfortunately not, the Buick distributor is quite a bit shorter.

That is because in later years, GM put a Chevy 350 in Buicks, and other GM vehicles.

Im sure its time for a new one. besides I don't know where it came from. I thought I'd be better off getting a new one vs rebuilding the old

I can see you have the bug to get rid of your points. I have heard good things about the conversion kit listed here:

    http://www.lectriclimited.com/mainpage.htm

Click on the lower right picture, "Breakerless SE Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit"

They used HEI's in Buicks started in 1974. The last 350 Buick was 1981 I believe. Hit the Yards.

    Nothing!

It's like the "I want to convert to a one-wire alternator" deal....

    I'll never understand that.

Your knuckles make a very unique sound against the fan as it removes all the skin doesnt it?

If they don't know the difference between a Buick HEI and a Chevy one you need to order one from someone else.

The first thing you need to do is find out if the HEI distributor you have is a Buick one, then go from there.
