V6 to SBB 350V8 Hello Quickstagel Glad to see another Cecil County 350V8 Regal. I have a 82 Sport coupe with a SBB 350 V8, it is a blue over gray T top. I had to put Historic tags on it as it wouldn't pass inspection. I was planning to test it at Cecil in October but it was a rain out. I have a late model bracket from a V6 that mounts the alternater lower. I am using a 3.42 gear in the back, but I may switch to a 3.08, I was planning to use a 200R4, but I am keeping the 350. What RPMs are you turning at 50 mph? Rich
Hello, I believe I met you at Crystal Inn when the Buick race was canceled because of rain. At the time the 350 was still in the '72 Skylark I drove there. That's a nice looking car you have. Since that picture of my 350 was taken I slightly modified an older non a/c alt. bracket and installed it to get the alt lower. I've also added an open element air cleaner. I'll try to post a picture soon. I like the 3.08 gears in it. I don't know what RPM's it's turning at 50mph yet, the tach I had laying around wasn't very accurate so I took it out and plan on getting a new one soon. Ken
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a58/skylark72/100_0360.jpg Original drivetrain 350-2 w/TH350 Got her in April from estate of original owner - was essentially a no-option car to which I've added p/s, pdb, Pertronix and an oem am/fm radio since then). Completely rebuilt the suspension, added Hellwig sway bars and tubular rear control arms, also added a rebuilt 10-bolt w/3.23:1 posi. Got a pair of solid fenders in the garage and plan on getting 1/4s to take care of the major bodywork - she's rust free underneath, surprising for a northern car even being garaged during its life. She'll be packin' a 455 by this time next year though  ...
nice car hey 70GS350, i like your car alot, i know u did some work to it, but is that a stock 350? Was curious what your rear gear is, and what size tires you run on the back? As well, if your inetersted in the switch pitch, i dont remember the company, but if you type it into google there is a company out there that sells a TH400 with converter for $600, but no over drive. I have a 71 Skylark custom, has had some trans leak probs so that might be a factor, but the car wont spin the tires off the line. A couple of things that might be affecting it, my advance is screwed, the distributer is seized in that appartment, i have a pretty badly tuned carb, and im running 2.56 gears with 255/60/15 s in the back. Let me know, thanks.
Well I guess I will step in here and say hey. Nice car! Keep us posted on the "Buizda" truck your working on. I like the way you think!!! TXGS, Sounds like a nice combo!! Keep us updated on your progress. RedGS1, thanks for the pics. I like your custom made forced air setup. You welded up your own snorkels to a stock unit right?
my 71 lark Heres my 71 skylark. 350-4 Great running car for $35!! lol With all the new stuff i got into i have about 800bucks total. Hei Ign. Hooker super comp headers " not shown in old pic" dual 2 1/2 exhaust with flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber mufflers. Rebuilt Quad- jet. Pretty much a stock motor with few cheap upgrades. All new bushings and springs/ shocks.I have another 71 350 in my work area that i plan to build up and put into the car. After of course, i put in new gears and a posi unit in the rear end. no point having power if it wont hook! Anyone know about the b&m shift kits? i was thinking about installing one for the hell of it but wasnt sure if they have instructions of where to put back the lil ball bearings that roll around in the valve body. b&m or trans go shift kit? what are your guys and girls ideas about them? Also just finished putting in new carpet and bucket seats. not buick buckets, i didnt have the $$ for those but they look really nice and very comfy, Will have pics of the interior later.
Nice, can't wait to see it once it is painted! Gotta love the 4 doors!! Extra sleeper points there. For the shift kit I think its a good idea as long as you don't mind the hard shifts in daily driving. Post a question in the auto trans section and you will get more info. Sean.
