Some guys support the BPG, some support the GSCA, some support both clubs, and some don't support either club. Even if there was only one club, not everyone would support it (politics/location/etc) so having two clubs actually may help the Buick community survive longer as it allows more options and opportunities to gather.

Even though the last day was rained out, all of us that were there had a great time with the parking lot activities as well as the meals with friends we don't see often.

Bottom line - the cars brought us all together, but it's the friendships that keep us together and coming back year after year.

Lets all think of ways to increase attendance to BOTH events, and also encourage night time activities. If the rain out taught us anything, there can be fun and good memories from just hanging out together in a large group, even if the event itself gets cancelled.

It is always a good time to interact face-to-face with the Buick Brethren. It was great to see everyone again, especially after several years.

I drove over 2400 miles one way to go, and I didn't even bring a Buick:grin:.6800 miles for the week:shock:. I have been on the west side of the country to long and can't remember what people I call my friends look like anymore. I know everyone from the boards and their names here but that's it.
My son and I had a great time and thanks to everyone for the hospitality:beer.
The block party was great, good job Ted with the band for the music, better than a DJ.
Friday I got to wrench on a few cars with friends so they could have some fun on Friday. That intern let us have some fun.
Mister T/ Tom it was good talking with you. Wild Bill my son listened to Teds CD many times on the way home. He said to say thank you again.
To all the BPG board and volunteers it was Great to sit and enjoy the food Saturday before heading out.
To the NE folks it was great to be among friends.
The best part of these Events(regardless of club) is the people and also the people behind the scenes.
Thanks to all the people who bring encouragement and support for these Events to continue.

I look forward to the year and how I can help to make it better:TU:

Can anyone who was in the tower when Denny Manner was talking to us help me remember what he said about antifreeze? He said he recommended a certain type from Tractor Supply, but I missed the name of it (or maybe the chemical ingredients) and why he recommended it over the name brand stuff available today at the auto parts stores?

The point he was making was to use non silicate antifreeze. The brand he mentioned was for trucks, but I think that was due to a lower cost

Hated to miss the event but had to due to a great Cancun trip. Ted, it sounds like your band was a highlight of the event. Where can I see you guys locally? Do you have a website? Thanks to everyone who posted pictures!

    James,

It was FleetRite Antifreeze. He may have mentioned Rotella as well, but I do remember Fleetrite was what he put in his 72 GS.
It is a low silicate anti freeze that folks use in diesels as well. I guess a higher silicate antifreeze is abrasive to water pump seals, ie causing leaks.

I believe this is a perfect example of the phrase "the pot calling the kettle black"

With this to the side. What JW said earlier really hits hard on the nail. Anyone that has tried to call Richard knows his voice, and is told that it is the answering service that you are speaking to. Why he does this, I have no idea. Is it helpful? To nobody but him, I guess. Is he the greatest person in the Buick community? My response is no. Has he done a lot for the Buick community? Nobody can truly deny that he has. Could he do better for u? I would most definitely say yes.

Let me also state that I have not yet been to a BPG event, and the reason is that I will not support them. It is because I choose where I want to spend my allotted vacation time. I only have so many days and so much money. That is a huge reason why these events are dwindling also. We all have less time and money. And we have to pick and choose between these events. Just think of what an event would be like if we just had the one, like back in the day. We most likely would not fill Beechbend like it used to be like, but it would be much larger than it is now.

One day, I will be at a BPG event to see what it is like. Until then, best wishes to all Buick events to be safe and enjoyable for all ! ! !
