Very disappointing considering it cleared up at noon and the sun is shining. Whoever called it should have turned on the weather channel and looked at the radar before sending people packing.
NTR is notorious for water seepage. Even if they dried the track off by 1pm, there would be problems all day. It was the track's decision the close for the day. Cars would have been skating down the track, and would be lucky not to see anyone hit the wall, or worse. A LOT of rain fell in the last 12 hours. I just left the track, and water was still running all over the place. Disappointing? Yes. The right decision? Yes.
X14..........Adam is exactly right in his description of the situation at NTR.........it's happened in years before.Friday was excellent but car count was down.Thursday and Friday night in the parking lot at the Metropolitan was as good as the 90's in Bowling Green. Ted Nagel and his band ...... Northside Garage .ROCKED the parking lot on friday night with two HOT sets......very nice indeed ! Buick people, if you ever want to have a cool Buick performance event to attend.....you have to support them......go and spectate if you can't bring your car. I hope the BPG Nationals can survive the financial hit that this year will be............ I right now pledge a $100.00 donation to the save the BPG Nationals fund..... Greg Davis said he does too...... Except for the rain-out , i really enjoyed the new host hotel and fridays events.........dang rain!!!! Thank you to all the BPG officers and help that made this event happen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace WildBill
I first want to thank Sean and all the BPG staff for putting on a good event. I haven't seen such a large gathering of people back at the hotel since the 90's at bg, it was a blast I was out until after 2AM both nights. I think it was a wise decision for both safety and financially for the club/track to cancel the event Saturday. The rain might have stopped but it was still raining at around noon when I left the track. It was disappointing to hear people at the hotel bitching about the decision and wanting a refund. However it was even worse that most of the people complaining that I heard lived only a few hours away from the track. Little did they know that some of us drove 13 plus hours with a truck and trailer. The BPG said they will honor the tickets next year and was giving refunds at the track. Long story short it was good while it lasted I hope it is bigger and better next year thanks to all that were involved in making it possible.
Always a bummer when these things get called off but still was fun on Friday. Cannot control mother nature. She is still the boss so it was the right decision. 15 hours home for me with a ridiculous gas bill. Those hills are no fun pulling a box trailer over 800 miles each way with my F-150. 8-9 MPG. At least I got to show the car off to some great Buick guys many of them from here.
probably not enough cars,,, where are all the x-GSCA whiners crying for money back ??? LIKE THEY WOULD DO AT BG,,,, this econ. cannot afford 2 national meets ,,,,ONE WILL DIE AND NOT MANY YEARS FROM NOW ..ABE LINCOLN SAID A '' HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND'' WAKE UP BUICK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!ou:
