Jeez Ken. The way you say it you might think I was a JACKASS or something.

    Uh.... well, I guess I am a jackass. Hee-haw!!!

But I sure try to have fun!

It was just such a fun time! My cheeks and sides hurt from laughing so much.

Alan Wander and Ron Mooney were an absolute blast to hang with all day. They really do enjoy taking jabs at each other and I was very happy to have been included in their jab-fest. When you can tell someone to "bite me" and then laugh like hell afterwards, that is the true spirit of comraderie.

That late night trip you, me, Smartin and Alan took to the Burger King was hysterical as they turned off the lights and closed the store as we were sitting in the drive-thru!

But that seems to have been the atmosphere everywhere at this event. I saw people laughing and high-fiving all over the place. I have to tell those who were not fortunate to attend that next year they should really make an effort to show up. I quickly became friends with people I just met, like Dana and Beth and Smartin.

Great to hang with you bud, and I look forward to caravaning out with you again next year, only following you in your GSX!

Everyone I met was just so friendly and so darn happy to be there, and it was truely a successful event!

Oh, and the video of me "pulling a Yardley" is quite an embarrassment!

Oh, I went to the 3rd round of eliminations on Sunday!!!

I made the mistake of lining up against Smartin in the 1st round. That meant that one of us wouldn't have a chance to make it to the 2nd round. I'll never do that again. But as luck would have it, the starter had to jockey cars around and Adam raced someone else and won his 1st race!

However, the gods giveth and the gods taketh away. In the 2nd round they jockeyed cars again and Smartin ended up lining up against me.

With his dialin he got a head start on me and it took every last inch of the quarter mile for me to catch him. In fact I think he beat me by about 4" or so. He cut a .570 light! But I cut a .518 light!!! But we also both broke out. However, he broke out worse than I did, so I got the win. It was door handle to door handle all the way and afterwards, even though he was disappointed, I could see he was still so happy with how the race went.

Well, all I can say is WOW !:TU:

Nice to meet some people here and put a face with a nickname.

Spoke to Brad and he said over 260 cars were racing! Car show was excellent. Overall turnout for a first event exceeded everyone's expectations!

This event demonstrates what can happen when you have dedicated "Buick" people who love what they do. Thanks goes out to many who participated as well as all the organizers, Jim Weise, Jim Haas, Brad Conley, Sid Myer, Duane Heckman, Dennis Manner, Mark DeConti and all the other who I can not recall their names.

Don't miss this event next year! Should be HUGE!

    What surprised me was:

There were a lot of local Buick racers who heard about the event and attended.

There were many women racers too!!!

And the very cute little tiny Chris who is a mother of 2 and a local gal, really surprised me with her 71 GS. She's an accountant, does a lot of the work herself, is very knowledgable about cars and Buicks, has been racing the same car for I think 20 years, and runs consistant 11.70's!!!

I sure hope she visits us here and joins the BPG. We need people like her to help make this event into a real family-oriented event.

Thee was also a prett blond driver in a white GS, named Ribin I think. She was also a local gal who, like Chris, is very educated, informed and enthusiastic. And like Chris has one extremely fast Buick.

I hope we can get more women and mom's involved. How kewl would it be for the finals to come down to 2 women or a woman and her husband?! Talk about your bragging rights!

Dude, you know I'm just busting! :)

You add a lot of life to the party. Your energy and sense of humor make for constant laughter. I was glad to be hanging with you and Ron and Alan too! I loved it when the lights went out at the Burger King and the response was hole shots in the lot!

    What a great time... :TU:

Yeah, oh, and I better win the raffle for that new enclosed trailer at the track, so I can tow my X out next year! (...and park it next to Al Yeager in the car show...)

    Sorry Al, couldn't resist!

Just now realizing all the people that i wanted to meet but didnt get the oppertunity to or didnt think of or know where to find them.

But to all i did meet it was a great time and putting a face to a name is always nice.

Looks like in the sheep pic Yardley was doing more than just putting a name to a face.

The only part of the event thats bothering me is the fact that there were so many people that I DIDN'T get the chance to meet personally. It's a bummer to see some people post that they were there and I didn't get to put a face with the name. So many people...so little time :)

Awesome racing action, never counting the 8 gs nats ive been to have i seen so many fast v8 cars in one place, it was just amazing. I put together some quick clips of racing on my camera phone will post on internet soon. Racing was exciting wish i could have gotten to talk to people but had work last night and left just after finals were over. Congrats to all winners and runners up, hope it goes to Quaker next year, there was so much unused room on spectator side it was absolutely insane. Pics coming soon too!

I'm with you Renee...I had an absolute blast...even without my car there. It was great meeting as many of the people as I did...only regret was not meeting more!
I thought the facility was great. Congratulations to all who put on the event. My son and I will remember it for years.:TU:

DUDE!! That was priceless! For those of you who were not eating dinner with us at the Longhorn last night.....Cole and Beth's daughter Kelly (the really cute 17 year old girl at the BPG registration tent!) dared Smartin to chug-a-lug his 25 oz. mug of beer. This was after several rounds of drinks and a large meal had been consumed by all. I refereed the event and decreed that he could breathe if need be, but he had to drink it non-stop for it to count as a chug-a-lug (I know about these things). With all 15 of us shouting "CHUG, CHUG, CHUG!", he nailed it in one shot! So we all drank shots of Old Grandad to celebrate his victory! A big "Thank You" to John Schmidt for picking up the dinner tab.:TU: That check was so heavy, it HAD to hurt to pick it up! I'm sure the bar bill alone was king size! :jd:
