Those that are attending, how many days are you staying? Posted on the aaca site: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/257368-2016-buick-club-of-america-50th-anniversary-event/?page=11 >>> Here are the show field hours currently planned for Allentown: Show Field/ Meet Site Hours: Wednesday, July 27: 7 am - 6 pm Thursday, July 28: 7 am - 6 pm Friday, July 29: 7 am - 6 pm Saturday, July 30: 7 am - 3 pm <<<<
Same here. Probably starting the caravan Tuesday and rolling Wednesday. Leaving Sunday morning. Atena is flying in Friday night and riding back with me
Aww man, its near the Yuengling brewery??!!! I really wanted to go before, but now!!!!! (I'm having a cold Yuengling as I type this actually....haha)
Yuengling brewery is about an hour's drive west. Would be a cool day trip for us. Weyerbacher is 30 minutes to the east in Easton. It's a micro-brewery. We can do another fun day trip if it rains.p Then there's Allentown Brewworks, a brew pub right in town. I'll be there this Saturday for the BBQ, Brews & Blues fest! I'll do some sampling and report back.:beers2: I have been to the Bethlehem Brewworks numerous times.... It's only about 6 miles from the show. It's in the historic section of town, same location as the 10 day Musikfest 2 weeks later. There are some good events happening on Sunday too: YES is playing at the Sands Bethlehem. Two Lane Blacktop will be shown at the Steelstacks!! http://www.steelstacks.org/event/2632/two-lane-blacktop/ If you want to do some adventure stuff, there's a dam release that weekend for some fun white-water rafting to the north in Jim Thorpe, Pa. BTW, I'm semi-local to Allentown, about 50 minutes to the south. I visit nearby Bethlehem for the multitude of music events during the summer... The Artsquest/Steelstacks venue is simply outstanding, and a real gem of the area.
Some more ideas for fun things to do during the BCA meet: Mack Truck Museum is in Allentown: http://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/ Martin Guitar tour: https://www.martinguitar.com/about/visit-us/ Crayola factory anyone? http://www.crayolaexperience.com/easton/about/landing-page.aspx
How about some great MUSIC!! The Artsquest/Steelstacks complex is 6 miles/20 minutes away in Bethlehem. They offer FREE outdoor concerts Thurs-Sat. My top pick would be Davey Knowles on Friday July 29th. He's a Blues/rock guitarist with a powerhouse voice. Thurs night is the Polyrhythmics, an 'Afro-beat-funk' sound. Sat night features the Large Flowerheads, who do 60's covers. Full schedule here: http://www.steelstacks.org/events/concerts/concerts-free/ At the indoor pay stage is Splintered Sunlight, doing their Greatful Dead tribute on Thurs the 28th. And the Romantics play inside on Friday night. As already mentioned,' Two lane Blacktop' is showing at the indoor theater on Sunday night. The Steelstacks complex is built at the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces. The outdoor stage is right in front of the old furnaces... making for quite an experience. Hope some of you will join me, at least on Friday night.
