I have been a BCA member since 1982 I think, a member of the GSCA since 1982/83 ( still have some of the mimeograghed newsletters) and a founding member of the BPG. always proud to be a part of them all and enjoyed the hard work involved in setting up and running the BPG events for many years, I have not been involved in the last few years as life changes have taken place, (for the good). I am happy to have met so many wonderful people through the many years of car shows and racing events, as I tried to participate in both. Running a Club is a thankless job, yet a labor of love for those that choose to do so. I commend all the BPG officers over the years that made the Club that so many enjoyed, with the success that it had become. Yet times do change and now is the time to embrace Change wether we want to or not, I believe this will be a benefit to the BPG and the BCA over time and with understanding from both groups. I will continue to support all the Clubs mentioned above through continued memberships and getting out to some events now and then. Best wishes to the new venture my friends, hope to see you somewhere soon! P.S. Sean R. Ken, Brad, Adam, Allen, Duane, and others, be proud of a job well done. Bruce Hunter
Hey China Mike... c'mon up. We don't park in lawn chairs unless we are drinking our asses off. I guarantee u won't be sedentary. And Briz, you never found the hijinx because you never found US. I will personally make a promise to get totally drunk and stoned and possibly puke on myself. I might even wet myself just for fun. The BCA might just bar me from ever returning. I'll even let the BPG draw on me with lipstick (no Sharpies!) once I pass out.
Yards......that's the spirit !.......you guys can take him at his word....i will attest to that!!! See you all this summer ! Peace WildBill
And the next morning he will walk among us with no shame and his head held high. Yards you are the MAN!!!!!!
While I'm optimistic about this arranged marriage, I hope things have changed with the BCA. It's almost like trying to get sail boaters and power boaters together especially when you are talking the racing side. Years ago I joined the BCA for a while and went to an event and entered my sunburst/white int 72 GS455 convertible (all original 70K miles) in the show. After sitting around my car for hours getting sunburned and listening to most people nitpicking my car we left. The rarity of the car (126 made) seemed to not be considered and the GS part seemed to be like an unwanted tatoo. The car that won the class had everything slicked up and fuzzy dice but it was just a Skylark. Maybe I'll go the opposite extreme and bring my 67 Riv GS ratrod with clearcoated surface rust. In the end I'm a racer and the rush and satisfaction of it all is what makes me tick but I still appreciate the show side....just doesn't do a lot for me......but maybe I'm not old enough.... PS- I wonder how my 464 Jag would go over at a British car show....always wondered. I just got a vision of a noose hanging from a tree......
I think this is a good thing, and as several folks have stated, as the demographics of the BCA members change, they hopefully will become more accepting of us "kids with their hot rods". I was at a BCA event in Rochester MN with my crew, and a completely restored 70 GSX 4 speed/Stage 1 chassis. The feedback from the members was great, the restoration aspect of that GS project really caught their attention, more so than the fact it was a GSX 4 speed, complete, but with no body.. We had a spot inside the building there, and did not feel unwelcome by club leadership at all. They were great. On the flip side, I went over the the BCA forums to see what the feedback was from their side on this merger, most of it was good, but there was some guy screaming about mission statements that made me roll my eyes.. I hope you can avoid those folks. JW
LOL I saw that too. We do have a good guy as President - Brian Clark - he is here in Cincinnati and drives his 65 Wildcat and 60 Buick everywhere. I'll have to ask him about that Mission.
We're going to sit him down with Yardley in the parking lot for a few hours .. then he gets to sit IN the Riv with the stereo on "11" once things really get going. .. That should re-adjust his L'attitude o No::Brow:ou:
All this is true ! He even took a dump in his pants between gas stops on a road trip out to Ohio once. Then he hung his nasty scivees on the back of a gas station john door for all to see. The BCA will be proud to have him as their new club jackass ! I don't think he was sleeping in this photo, he might have been dumpin' !!! P.S., don't be next to use the port-a-john after the YARD DOG is finished. The port-a-john company burned this one to the ground rather than clean it up ! p
Actually, moon-dog, in the one pic I had just made a one-cheek-sneak. And in the other I was experiencing the after-affects of an all-night Tanqueray binge.
I would like to go to the Allentown event, is membership required? If so, do I need to join the BCA or does one contact the closest division from the list that is on the BCA website? Thanks for the help Tony
The BCA show is only open to the public on Saturday. If you want to enter your car or attend the other activities, you need to be a member. There's a long thread about the show here: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/257368-2016-buick-club-of-america-50th-anniversary-event/?page=1
