I'd like to make a small correction here... After watching a parade of Chevelles & a couple rods (including a pretty cool Fargo pickup truck that had BOTH of the announcers enthralled) they ran the 87 GN (23K mile original, solid roof) thru for 26K... Then, they put an 88 LeSabre GN thru (9.6 K original) for 19K...did I miss something here? 122 built; & I've only ever seen 2 (one in IA, & one, believe it or not; here in Edmonton) but this seemed like a whack of cash...surprisingly, the announcers had the same opinion...don't know if that's a good thing... Anyway, looking fwd to more fun tonight...
Re: Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale Az Does this mean it will be sunny and 70 while Chris is out of town and if we knew that we buy him a ticket more often to leave:moonu: SWEET
My brother in law purchased a car from there last year. What they have are tons of folks standing by to haul your car. You basically have them haul it across the state line, out of AZ, and then take possession, avoiding the AZ tax. That's how he explained it to me, hope that is correct. Not trying to mislead, I am definately no tax expert, just what he told me. Both GN's appear to have gone for what they were worth. In fact, if anything, the ~9K mile one once all the fees have been paid was high. I watch these cars quite a bit as I have a VERY low mileage one that i'm thinking of selling. Only the extremely low mileage (<2K) examples seem to bring over $30K.
As I understand it if you haul your car away yourself you have to pay the state and local sales tax. If you have a professional transporter haul the car for you the taxes are waived in Az, and you pay the taxes when you register the car at home.
Re: Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale Az Mark Lob from Iowa and Chris Pollack from Washington are also there from V8Buick, probably a few others. You might run into them sniffing around the Buicks.
Re: Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale Az Hey Mark, hope you and Chris are having a great time! I'm watching for you on TV.
I agree the buyers did not get a steal on those cars. But I do think that the sellers really stung themselves by putting their cars in that auction. Once you deduct what they netted after registration and transport fees, the seller's commission and travel and lodging expenses, they were short. The sellers could have obtained more money by selling the car themselves.
Absolutely agree. I would never sell a car no-reserve, especially with all the fees they incur at BJ. An ad in Hemmings or e-bay would have likely obtained better results.
I cannot believe that <table border="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td style="padding-right: 5px; text-align: right; white-space: nowrap; vertical-align: top;"> </td> <td colspan="2" style="vertical-align: top;"> Bumongous, the sedanette custom designed by Troy Trepanier in 1991. Only brought about 30k! :eek2: uzzled: One of my favorite all time cars, and a '50 Buick. DL </td></tr></tbody></table>
$75,000 for a friggin' school bus. Keep drinking that booze rich people, just keep drinking that booze. Barrett-Jackson is just an ego trip for the weathy and should not be considered reality. The prices are all over the place this year. Some really nice cars are going cheap. Maybe the recesion has hurt some rich folks and they need to fire sale their toys to survive. ou:
Yep, lot number 1270.1 (stage1) lot number 1330 both are apollo white cars heres the link to all Buicks in the auction: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appl...list.aspx?aid=304&sd=01/20/2010&ed=01/20/2010#
Re: Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale Az went for 47,000 during a commercial break. No surprise they didn't show it
Re: Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale Az I didn't pay attention to the time of the auction, but I thought I saw the guy slapping the "sold" sign on the left lower part of the front glass...I dunno,
Lot number 658.1 68 gs convertable owned by a board member went for $26.950 Was for sale on here for quite a while at a lower price but when all said and done paying Barrett Jackson comision and shipping probally not much more in his wallet.
$26,950.00-18% -$500( registration) - car transportation ($1000.00) -food, lodging and travel ($1000.00) = $19,599.00 net to seller The figures could be worse than this. For example, if you want covered parking that is additional. And it is raining there. If you carry your spouse then travel goes up. Rooms there this time of year are expensive.
First time I realized when bj puts a price on their web site they already add the fees on price ,makes everyone see a more inflated figure. Some cars will also cost more than a grand to get there depends where they ship from. So for quick figureing on Sunday when its over you can divide bj total sales by 18% to see roughly how much they made of all the car guys.
Can you see BJ posting how little the Seller nets!! p It would be bad for next year's car supply and it would cause BJ to perhaps allow sales with a reserve.
