    That's too Funny Bill

The motor is actually about ready to drop back in. I had a problem with the first set of head gaskets (UPS bent them up :af: ). I had to wait 3 more days to get the second set.

Anyhow, with any luck, it will be back on the road soon. I'm not sure if it will be this weekend or not, but it should atleast be good to go by next with the gears you sent and all.........

I'll keep you all posted, I just didn't want to keep boring everyone with little posts here and little posts there :)

Once it's back and running will get some G-tech times :Brow:

    Rich,
How does the G tech gather it's data?
I'm not familiar with it. Is there much wiring to run and to what?
Inquiring Mind would like to know!
    Do they have a website?

    Hey Bill,

It's all done via G-force. All you have to do is plug it into your cig lighter sync it up to your car and your good to go.

I have the new one that show's 60ft, 330ft 1/8th and 1/4 mile times. It pretty much gives you everything a timeslip at the stip does. The best thing about it is the you can update the software as they become availible. With the new firmware update, it's as accruate as they claim on the site..... pretty good stuff......

    That is WAY Cool Rich.
I just read through their entire site. Pretty impressive stuff.
Also nice to have it user proven too. And it's as accurate as they say. Just $250!!!
And to think just 35 yrs. ago we would be doing our adjusting by the way it sounded and a timing light.
And then again!! All this chatting and exchanging of information would have been done at the track or on the telephone!!!
    Enjoy the weekend!:TU:

    Timing curve

What kind of total timing are you running with boost? What does the timing curve look like? Whould it be better to run the mixture closer to where it needs to be and turn back the timing a few extra degrees? I've messed with alot a superchargers on Mustangs and although running a little rich is ok to be safe; I've seen real rich trash a set of rings more than once. I'm sure you have a handle on things, Just curious. I know you can't right everything down that you go through. It just caught my attention that your blowing gaskets under 8 psi of boost. I'm sure your scratching your head too. But I'd rather it be blowing head gaskets than somthing else. If you have another problem that you don't see and you o-ring it or something.......Pistons, rods, and bearings are next......
With my old stock motor that I sprayed nitrous to, I always ran the stock Fel Pros hoping they'd be the first the let me know I did something wrong. I never had one blow in the 1 1/2 years I ran it. I always ran pump gas in it too. It ran 11.47 best on motor and 6.80 at 102 in the 1/8th since the 3.73's wouldn't let me go through the 1/4 mi. Although I had a 4th gear on my 2004r, but I didn't want to chance it. Keep the info coming...:TU:

    Hey Rick.

The timing curve is pretty agressive. I'm running about 14 degrees initial and 30 total. I'm seeing all the timing by about 3500 rpm. Being at almost 5000ft I feel safe in running 30 degrees total at 7 1/2 to 8 psi. If I were around SeaLevel, I'd back it off a couple more degress.

This is actually the first gasket I've blown. The reason it blew has to be the copper coat put on (the only time it was put on) :Dou: . Like I said it was recommened by a friend that has given me nothing but good solid advice. Anyway, the gaskets went on dry (like they did in the past with success) along with Studs this time. I don't suspect will have any issues this time around.

As for running it rich, we wern't really all that rich...... just rich enough that the charger didn't want to build boost witht the alky injection on (it has a very small nossel and just spays enough for a cooling effect). Anyhow....... hopefully all the rings are still intack and health. nothing appeard to be out of wack looking at it when teh heads were off...... (fingers crossed).

I wasn't able to get it in the car yet, things just kept poping up yesterday :( Hopefully this coming weekend.

Sounds good. :TU:Your running a MSD 6AL right? If so, have you seen the programmable plug in that you can add to it. Its pretty sweet. :Brow: Complete timing curve control, boost retards, start retards, individual cylinder timing......ect. All in one box.. And all it takes is a little more of that green stuff to get....

    Hey Rick,

I am running the 6al..... and I wan't aware of the plugin your talking about.... do you have a part number you can send my way? Sounds like a good way to go.

this system also has all of that built in without having 16 boxes to hide when you are all done (it has 2). I paid $50 more than this guy wants for a used one the day before he listed it. It's my second system and I'm happy with it. 4 window/RPM switches, 3 rev limiters, 3 retard switches, MAP sensor retard (1 degree per lb boost), and programmable timing curve.

    another option to consider.

The part number is 121 8979 multi-function ignition controller. This will plug into your msd 6 box and give you all the options that a programmable 7 has. You will need a computer to set and change the rpm limiters, timing curve, retards and such. List for $369 at Jegs.

    Well She's "Alive" once again.

And..... Holy SMOKE SCREEN BATMAN :)

Lots of Mobil 1 in the header = LOTS OF SMOKE  I haven't road tested it yet, but everything seems happy.

    Bill,
I still haven't got the gears in yet :( . If all goes well, maybe tomorrow, or next week at the latest. The race I'm planing on hitting is on the 22nd so it has to be setup by then for sure.

I hope you fired her up outside!
That would make for a pretty foul stench with all that smoke in the garage.
Probably made your heart pound a little faster too!
Waiting patiently for those 10 second G-techs.

Naw..... it was out in the shop :) Luckly it has a very big door.

I took it out for a drive with the Big pulley. It was just under 40 degrees........ The large pulley 413 vs 400 made 10psi at 5000rpm :eek2: Man it wanted to run HARD. If you recall, the small pulley was giving me about 7.5psi in the heat (high 80's to low 90's). I believe it would give me about 12 to 13 psi in the cooler temps...........

Anyway, everything seemed solid and scary........... G-tech / Track times will come once the gears are in. At this point I'd expect low 11's to high 10's

I'm going to have to remove the plate blocking the air filter from teh engine compartment......... Hopefully this will drop the boost down a pound or two..............

And she's still smoking after a 12 mile drive. I figure about 1qt of mobile made it on my drivers side header and has now coated the entire X-system to both muffs.... it will be a while before it all burns out :(

    Hey Bill........

I did see that. That is the older model that I used to have before this new one came out. It's not as user friendly and doesn't give you a 1/4th of the info the new one does. For 40 bucks, don't get me wrong it's a great tool........ However, If I were to do it again, I'd still anty up the 250.00 bucks for the new one. You don't have to level it out, it gives you your 60ft, 330, basically everything a time slip at the track gives you. Even reaction time HP and Torque...... It's also more accruate, and plugs into your PC so you can compare runs via graphs and ect....... It's really a nice piece and it's flashable, upgradeable as they make changes and improvements.

I guess I sound like a salesman......... It's just a nice cool tool

PS....... The old gears are out, the 4 series carrier is being taken apart so the guts can be swapped in the 3 series carrier (via chad). The new Gears sould be in by this weekend.........

Thanks for the pitch Mr. G Tech!
Pass that info on to the masses.

Glad your finally getting the rear together.
    Sounds like a plan.
Can't wait for some numbers. I just have a feeling you may be in for a suprise.:Brow:

Still not road worthy yet :( . Burgi Racing has come to a stand still for the last little bit :) .

Chad came over last night to get the Gears set in, and low and behold the parts store gave me the wrong bearings. NOne of the ones that were still open had the ones we needed either

If all goes well the gears will now be set in on Tues or Weds. That will give me about 2 days of tuning here and there before draveling the 31/2 hours to track that's still open for the last run of the year......... Hopefully the weather holds out.

Welp.... Chad came and setup the gears last night. I was then able to get the rearend back together as well as the rest of the car.....Bad news is now the weather isn't working. Rain and snow tomorrow :( . Looks no "offical" track times until the spring. I'll do what I can to get a G-tech run in baring road / weather conditions. The roads may be to cold to get a sub 2 sec 60ft. If that's the case, it's pretty much a waste of time..........

Once again, I'll keep you all posted
