Well.... The plan is to hopefully have the motor put back together by next weekend (have to pull it out to take the pan of since gasket materal is missing :( ).

I'm not exactly sure when / if the car will make it down to Vegas again it would be nice if it were soon! :TU: Could possibley be around Thanksgiving if anything is going on that weekend. I'll be there for Turkey day with my Familly that lives in Henderson, as well as my pops from LA............

Will just have to see. At the very least, I'll make some G-Tech passes soon. It's been updated with new software and should be more accurate. This will all have to wait until the new Gears are in as well (thanks Bill :TU: ).

Lots to do still, and a wife that's tired of me living out in the shop in my spare time :spank:

    Rich,
Depending on amout of use, t-wrench should be recalibrated after about 1000 - 1200 cycles. If you have a click type wrench, every click is a cycle. You would be surprised how fast they add up even for a "hobbiest".
Some Sears repair centers will do theirs for about $20.
    Snap-on also will do theirs - $17.50.
    Or you send it out.

    charge !

Can't stress the importance of having a stick that is right on the money. These things can go off sometimes + or - 20%!!!
Think about that . Mains, rod bearings torqued 20% on the high side? Heads 20% on the low side?
See the potential for problems from overlooking something people tend to overlook?

    Thanks for the info Bill....

I'd be very suprised if mine had over 800 cycles on it. I think I'll be sending it off to have it done just to be on the safe side.

    Rich,
Both power valves are the ones that came on it, not sure what size springs they are. I'll have to try getting hard on it through the gears 2 or 3 times in a row to see if it is just carbon but if it is just carbon build up then wouldn't the smoke be black not blue?

Do you also get oil pushed up through your breather in your valve cover? I'm getting enough so that oil will lay and run down my cover after a hard run through the gears.

I went and picked up a bypass pcv valve that you told me about but instead of running it into an intake runner, I ran a hose from the new pcv bypass valve over to the intake side of the supercharger so it will suck the fumes out with out worrying about blowing air back into the motor.

Rich, I'm running 10 bls. of boost with bolts, not studs, and stock blue felpro head gaskets with no problems. You really should consider lowering your compression, I think you'll be alot happier not having to worry about blowing your motor or head gaskets!

    Hey Rick,

I have / did lower my compression. With the head gasket that's .060 thick and the combustion chamber materal I removed, I'm sitting about 9.1 to 1 . That's almost perfect for a blower motor.

If your getting that much oil blowing through your breather, that's not a good sign. That's exactly what mine was doing before the head gasket blew. It's very possible you have already hurt a gasket!. If it's not gasket related, it's blow by related. Chances are since your running felpro head gaskets, I bet you too have had some gasket lift.

    On other question Rick,

Has it always blown oil out of the breather?

Mine never did until the head gasket was hurt (not blown just hurt). I made about 6 to 8 test / tune runs before going to vegas. One the last one, the car blew oil out of the breather (this was the fist time). After that, it was only about 2 or 3 more boost runs before the gasket blew chunks. The tells me the I hurt the gasket before loading the car up heading to Vegas.

You may very well want to get rid of those felpo gaskets. My motor was orginally build wtih them. When I tore the heads off to place the "orange crush" gaskets on, they Felpros didn't have any stick to them at all (about like the gaskets I just tore off). I can honestly say I wouldn't run felpros with boost.

    Hey Pat,

You will need the stuff from Mike to adapt the charger to the BBB. The kit your getting is for the BBC.

Mike has spent the time fabing / making a really nice Brack for our buicks and the Procharger. You will also need a different pulley that what the BBC kit includes as well as an adapter to mount the pulley.

I'd drop mike a email asking how much he would charge for the Kit, or just the bracket / adapter, pulley, and blet that you will need. His email address is mike@xsperformance.net.

    Pat,
there is a virus going around that does that. You'll need a patch from http://www.symantec.com/
I can't remember what the worm is called. Maybe someone else here can?
I had the same problem at home. I've NEVER had a virus in the 6 years I've been online, until this one. Sorry I can't help you more.

You could work for a pro stock or funny car crew with so much practice!
I'm sure you'll be giving it a good checkover while it's out.
    Just remember!:Smarty:
Torque - Retorque - and Torque again!!!
And you do this while watching the little ones? God Bless Ya!
The gears went through Denver, Co today.
    Shouldn't be long now.

Yeah..... that's no joke, It's amazing how fast the hood / motor / trany come out and back in now. It's pretty much down to a science and could almost do it in my sleep (well probably do sometimes from working nights and watching the boys in the day :) ).

I've always retorqued the heads 3 times (in the correct order and at the correct lbs. Chad says the new studs should be torqued 5X to get proper specs, so it looks like this set will get a few extra rounds.

Yeah, the youngest boy is usually sleeping while I'm in the garage (9 months old) that means I get about 1 hour a day before work. Brock on the other hand (2 1/2) is out there with me, he loves the "Black Car" :Brow: To tell you the truth, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love watching them and couldn't imagin not doing it and sticking them in Day Care instead.

That's great about the Gears. Hopefully I can have Chad help me set them up next week. It will be very interesting to see how they affect the car. Thanks a bunch for helping me out with them, I owe you!!!!!

    Hey Bill,

Just got the gears :TU: . The 3 series posi carier I have needs the guts swaped out of my 4 series..... Yep you guessed it Chad's the man when it comes to that  Any how, they should be installed hopefully sometime next week.

I saw how much you paid for shipping on the box :eek2: . Would it offend you if I put a check in the mail to atleast cover that charge? I really feel it's the least I could do!

    Thanks again Bill :beer

Sounds like you have already found your crew chief (Chad) if you ever go pro.
He sounds like a very good friend. Cherish the fact that you have him.
As far as the gears and shipping. After you have them in and get a few runs on them, if you decide they are right for the car and your setup then you can send something. But only if you're gonna keep 'em.
If they end up being too tall, just send them back and we're even.
    Sound OK?
Good luck with the engine and the gears. I'll be waiting for some timeslips.
And buy Chad a couple of :beer for me.

    LOL.... thats too funny Bill.

Chad is a VERY GOOD friend of mine. We go a way's back. Hopefully our boys will be as good as friends together as we are :TU: .

I'm sure the 3.31's will work out. I don't see them being to much gear. In fact If I could go through the trap at about 5700 to 5800 that would be perf :Brow: I really don't like reving it to 6000 with the stock rods and the heavy Speed Pro's.

Once the Car is back together (looking like next week, the head gaskets didn't come :spank: ) I'll at the very least get some G-tech runs in. Once that's done will get together and work something out :TU:

    Thanks again.
