The car before my Regal was a 94 Mustang Cobra. Oh yeah baby, this new mustang has caught my eye. MARK
Never thought of that. Perhaps this will sell well and help keep the Buick division from becoming extinct before they smarten up and start designing cars that are more appealing.:bglasses:
Looks like it's built on the same platform as my wifes 2000 GS. Same door, same windows, just different styling queues.........
   Just another typical generi-cruiser. When will Buick get some balls and build a car with some testosterone? The prototypes for the most part always look really cool. Then they go and cut off the gnads a present this copier repair guy generic econobox. Buick amazes me.
The 'concept' LaCrosse has stunning styling!!:TU: :bglasses: Wish I could say the same for the car in the first post. ou: While it's not hideous to look at, IMO - it's just another sedan. Has some similarities to the new GP. Quite frankly, I liked the previous model much better - body wise. Performance wise - the new GTP is better. Just wish they could have wrapped it in a better looking package!!:Smarty: To put this in baseball terms: we need a hit!! They're giving us foul balls.o No: How can the LaCrosse be SOOOO different from the concept vehicle!?! It's not even remotely similar.:spank: :blast:
They just throw names around in concepts. I just about hit the floor when they showed the latest "Centurion" concept vehicle. PLEASE don't defile that name. Fortunately, when that type of design hit the streets they changed the name to Ranier. Close one! That tall styling is the "in" thing in sedans - Focus, Corolla, Camry. Buick's sales just HAVE to be on a nosedive. Looks like just another PlayneJayne vehicle to compete on rebates alone. I'll just keep enjoying the original Centurion. :beer
It's probably a good thing they stopped making Riviera's. The late ones weren't much to look at, I can only imagine what they would have done to it by '05.
I think GM in general is on a nosedive. Is it just me or does the new 'Vette look like a Viper from the front? Used to be if you wanted to see the latest from Ford or Mopar, look at a 3 year old GM car. Now it's the other way around. GM stylists suck. Look to Ford for new material. Scary thought!
Well, if it's rear-wheel drive I might consider it in passing. If it's rear-wheel drive and comes in a 2-door, I might seriously consider it. If it's rear-wheel drive, comes in a 2-door, and has an option for an LS6, I'll get a home equity loan and buy one tomorrow. :3gears: Something tells me that it will be just another econobox, however. I'd look for this to replace the Regal in a year or two, especially if it is about the same size and has the same drivetrain options. o No: - Freed
I like the sound of this: http://www.cheersandgears.com/faq_buick_lacrosse.aspx That 4.6l motor would be sweet. - Freed
My boss bought a new corvette convertible a few weeks ago. I guess I'm just weird when it comes to taste in vehicles, but I have to look at it and think - "did you really run out of places to put your money?" I've never driven one, but I just don't care for the looks. I'll get some flack from Riv owners, but to me they should have laid it to rest over 30 years ago. I'm personally glad they only ran the Centurion for three years. To each his own.....
note to Buick Buick built cars that they had a waiting list of buyers for......... then they stopped building them Then they stoped making rear wheel drive altogether + sales go down o No: I bought my last NEW car from Buick in 1987. Buick designers repeat after me "Rear Wheel Drive" No more "cookie-cuter /bubble-looking /European stye cars cars"This is the USA!
Buick must be watching what ford is doing, or at least their designers are. I think they stole the headlights from a 98 Taurus or a 90's Toyota Celica, and the hood from this:
We could get to the point where there's really truth to this. GM started sharing parts, then we realized there was very little left of individual manufacturing in the divisions. Then car companies started sharing parts between them. We may not be far from most engines coming from a few manufacturers and you find the same engine in the Malibu and in the Taurus.
A simple test GM should use a simple test on every design. Remove the badges and ask a group of people what brand they think the car is. If you don't get a large majority of respondents saying Buick you have a :boring: design. Look at the prototype LaCrosse, cover up the tri-shield and it still screams BUICK. That's how you build a brand. I hate the LaCrosse, cover the emblem in the grill and it's indistinguishable, from all the others, a perfect example of how to destroy a brand. Yuck!!
I'm not a great fan of the new Vettes either, the C5s are pretty decent looking and will be even cheaper to pick up once everyone jumps on the C6 bandwagon:Brow: The Lacrosse isn't really a bad looking car, just happens to look like every other car on the road. Maybe if they made a "GS" version and wedge an LS-series engine in it, with appearance upgrades to match Buick will be back in the game. If GM decides to give Buick their version of the C6/XLR chassis and it gets a turbo 3.8 I would find that VERY appealing.
Re: A simple test You make a good point. Where I'm concerned, many of the newer autmobiles, suv's included, all look alike. You can't tell many of the foriegn cars from the American made ones anymore unless you look for the name badge on the car.
