I was going to make them, but since TA headers are too inexpensive, (chinese?) I just gave up. I don't like and would never make a long tube set like those listed in the pics. Shorty would be the way to go, but header manufacturers don't get it. Ya, like i wanna grind off my 3 bolt collectors on a speedbump, or slam the tubes shut when hitting a beer can on the road. Oh well, I will just build my own 4 into 1 and tri y's for my freinds.

I had this very same problem with my 68 350 headers from TA. Looks great, sounds awesome, but the first speed bump I went over and DAMN! Now I have big divots in the lower tubes They're the nice looking (expensive) metallic coated ones too. If I had known better, I would have gotten the shorty's instead.

What are you going to do to correct my defective nailhead headers?

Not sure why you figure they are defective, but hope you have discussed your issue with TA before bringing it onto the bulletin board here.

    Adam -

I have tried to resolve the issue privately back in May. Secondly, the T/A catalog says that these headers have quote "good ground clearance." That is why they are defective. These headers scraped when I pulled into my driveway! Also, other people have had the same problem (see above). The car was literally undriveable, and I had to put the factory manifolds back on.

Secondly, know the law before your throw your "2 cents" into the thread. These goods failed to conform to the purchase contract. Therefore, pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code (what has been adopted in its entirety by Arizona), I am entitled to a remedy. See, e.g. Arizona Revised Statue 47-2601.

Glad I could clarify the situation for you Adam.

I specifically altered my original post 3-minutes after placing the original comment so as not to offer any opinion on the subject of product fitness or who may be right or wrong. My only intent is avoid any more dirty laundry on this bulletin board than is absolutely necessary. My "2-cents" is as a moderator on this bulletin board, and not as an advocate for either party.

I personally saw the headers when they were on the car and I can contest that they are the wrong parts for the application.

There is no exageration in saying "I couldn't drive the car". The clearance was only a couple inches from the road as described by Dan.

If this is the way these are intentionally designed then a disclaimer should've been provided to Dan that they were for track use only (I honestly feel that these would be dangerous to use even on the track as they would surely snag something or the tubes would smash close the first time you bottomed out)

I can also verify that Dan's GS is bone stock (not lowered) and the headers were professionally installed.

I don't think that Dan is asking for a lot here, only to be treated fairly and recoup the cost of the headers or accept a credit.

Trying to reach resolution over this issue has gone on for quite some time and I don't believe that anyone is out to bring down TA performance (they are a good company) but right is right and when they mess up or their suppliers mess up, they should correct it.

I hope Dan and TA are able to come to an agreement and resolve the issue in a timely fashion.

I mentioned in an earlier post that mine where pretty low also,,,with the tire and suspension combo I have,,,they where 2 3/4" off the ground,,,when I had my exhaust installed last week,,,we where able to "tweak" them somewhat and get another half inch of clearance from them,,,I'm going to give them a try,,(won't be until next summer) but have held onto my stock nailhead manifolds "just in case"!!!
They are definetly lower than they should be on my car,,,if they turn into an issue they'll be coming off and i'll be sending my stock manifolds to Gessler to get worked over!!!

Hey, after just looking at your picture it looks like your headers have more ground clearance than my dads GS. Kenne-Bell ran these for years and we stumbled upon the tool and decided to run some just so that there were headers available. Without these there is nothing for those cars, I appologize for the fact that it says that there is good ground clearance, when we ran the headers we were told that they had fine clearance and this is the first time that we heard that there is an issue. I can understand your opinion that it doesn't have "good ground clearance" but these headers were designed back in the '60s or '70s the beginning of headers. These are nostalgia headers and this was good ground clearance for their day. This is old school tech, these were made was back in the day when everything you got required that it be modified to fit and everyone knew that, it isn't a modern day header made when everyone expects it to just bolt in and fit perfectly.

is this stated in your catalog or advertising so the buyer can make an informed decision regarding purchase ?

Honestly I don't know, it was written up by a previous employee and I don't have a catalog nearby to check. The page was made long before I started working at the shop and the headers were made long before I was involved with anything going on, I'll update the page the next time I'm at the shop.

My fronts are 245/45/17 and are a touch over 26",,,the rears are 255/50/17,,,but I have modified my suspension to handle better and the whole thing is lowered,,,,like I mentioned,,,I'm going to give them a try,,,they do sit too low for street use,,,just have to be careful,,,the first time I start frying roadkill on them,,,when I'm done getting sick,,,they'll be in the dumpster and the stock manifolds are going on!!!!

PG. 136 of the T/A catalog: "good ground clearance"

That is the reason why I bought these headers... Way to stand by your product.
