Looks great. Just promise me youll get rid of those stripes. There is a skylark in my town and it really bothers me for some reason. Looks like a really cool project.

Good luck with your restoration Paul - and you already have a GS hood so that is a big plus!

Mark every time I see your signature... son standing next to the red 72 ......I always think of my 71 455 ......same paint as yours ......let it get away when I took a job overseas.......I REALLY MISS THAT CAR !!!!!!!!

Took the back seat out because I haven't been able to get into the trunk, found the build sheet and can see there is a 70 or 71 snorkle air cleaner in the trunk !!!!! and some other stuff....

Took the rear package shelf off ... rotted badly.... not much rust in the floor ... looks like surface only.

Car was originally light green metalic , painted Maroon at one time and now is Purple... late 90's ford mustang color...

When I have time I will remove engine and see how bad the damage is....after I get the trunk open !!!

Ok, finally getting into the car.... Took the front clip off. Hood has no rust or dents, fenders are in same shape , so I'm good with sheet metal. Core support needs a fix or replaces..... Radiator already boiled and done.

Engine.... 350 motor out of a 71. Rod and main bearing spun.

Previously bored .40 over, pistons and block good. Crank turned, needed one new rod, added a mild cam.....heads were done, hardened exhaust seats added. Should get motor back in the next 30 days.....

Passenger rear qtr needs replaced and passenger front floor needs to be replaced.....when I bought the car it had a front flat and the pan was on the ground..... Too bad.

Need to pull the racing buckets out.......

I need to clean up the engine bay while the clip is off.

What's the best paint I could put on the frame , from a spray can ? Any suggestions ? I was going to use black rustolium ?

good to hear about the progress.

Eastwood has a frame paint if you want to go that route. You can also get a rust inhibitor if you want to stop any rust that might be happening. Or, you could do like me and spray paint it with rustoleum.

okay couple of shots the way shes been sitting since i took off the front clip , i've been wire wheeling and wire brushing and putting some rustoleum .... its cleaning up a bit.
went ahead and did a brake job, repack wheel bearings and put some new monroe shocks on..... time consuming but fun! before and after shots..... linhofffamily and car stuff 603.jpg linhofffamily and car stuff 589.jpg

when i cleaned off the oil and gunck on the top of the tranny there is a C - 6 in the cast , large letter and number ..... can anyone tell ne what that means ? the trans is a 350 turbo, i bought this car with a blown motor so i dont know how it drives and shifts. thanks in advance..... painted light blue, i sure its not original.

pulled the racing buckets out with belts, anybody need a set . ill sell them .

engine is nearly done, i've taken 2 exhaust manifolds, and both were cracked under the heat shield. is this a known old problem for 350 engines? its the short one , i think on the passenger side.

Keep it up. I love how easy it is cleaning and disassembling but the reassembly can be challenging. I'm learning this on my 70 Skylark project as well. I'll be checking in on your progress. Good luck!!

Thanks Gary, I saw your post here too. I thinks you have more time to put into your project than me or your more motivated. Either way thanks for looking and keep up your good work. It's always a learning experience and your right putting them back is a slower process . I enjoy working on my car when I'm alone mostly. I haven't had time lately...life gets in the way.
