The owner told me he was thinking they would be worth $100k. Maybe he was right!

Tom, the reason those cars arent sitting in your driveway is that you didnt offer the guy enough. Everything has a price. I bet you that if you offered him some substantial money for those cars, he would of sold them out from under the other guy and they would be yours.

No offense, but why would you offer him only 2k on 2 GSX's- 4 speeds no less and 2 71 Stage 1's:confused: Thats not even 1985 dollars

I promise you I asked him how much he wanted for all four cars and any parts he had and he said, and I quote " I have been thinking about selling those cars and the parts, they are just sitting there. I'll take $2000 for everything" The very next monday I was at his business with cash and 4 bill of sales filled out with the VIN numbers. That's when he said " You know, there was a truck driver that said he wanted to buy those cars and he left me a deposit, I should check and see if he still wants them. If he doesn't then they are yours" After numerous calls he says "The trucker says he wants them and has sent me the rest of the money. If he doesn't pick them up in 30 days I will send his money back to him and you can have them" 30 days go by, they were still sitting there. He even said he had a truck and flat bed trailer and would help get them to Little Rock! That's the God's truth! Yes I would have been willing to pay more then $2000, but that was his figure.

    Tom,

Not to distract you from the brawl, but I wanted to say hi, and let you know the car is being thoroughly enjoyed. And thanks again for the help with the title.

    Hi Don,

Good to know. By the way, if you EVER want to sell your car back to me, please give me first chance. I sold that car to pay for my daughters tuition and one wedding and I really miss that car! Glad you are enjoying it. Stay in touch!

Hellloooooooooo Can anyone spell 3rd mortgage:).....Ps to the guy who ends up 2nd in this auction please message me and I'll show you a GSX that hasn't been abused and used as a planter............To the guy who offered 2000 for all... This guy might have just saved you from financial ruin..........In my part of the country this stuff would be called scrap........or take the S out and that's what you have............About 70 a ton......I think or maybe I'm not seeing the big picture.......Sorry to offend the purists but to restore these cars would be as they say cost prohibitive...........If these cars weren't in texas I would swear that they were parked next to the levees........That's just MY 2 cents

I agree with Droptop 1, this auction is crazy. Some people are bidding this up in favor of the seller. I am not saying that the cars are not worth the money but if you want the cars and have the money would you not wait until the last minute to bid?

Seller has stated auction can end at any time so players might be getting in the game early.:Do No:

My wife is from a small east Tenn. town and for the last 20 years I have been going home with her...and know where every barn car is in the town. A1958 corvette, 1966 Chevelle SS 4 speed, 1969 RS Camaro, 65 Chevelle, 67 Chevelle ect... and talked to the "people" many, many times to buy their cars. Every year the price goes up because they were offered more money...guess what? Those cars are still sitting there 20 years later.
These types of folks will never sell for the fear that they will not get enough money, it's kind of like the lottery they keep hoping for more and more. Most of them live a very, very modest lifestyle and this is all they will ever have.
I bet a dollar this auction is a no sale regardless of the reserve and good money thrown at the cars. This guy will never sell because of the fear of loosing what he has. If he wanted to sell it sounds like he had many opportunities’ before subjecting himself to the e-bay experience and would have saved his thin skin the abuse. This is just my opinion and no harm intended.:Do No:

Couldn't resist checking this out before I get to work this morning...couldn't agree more with what David said. Out on the prairies, lots of small towns, lots of barns, garages, and lean-to's...a 66 L-79 nova, 70 six barrel super bee, 2 70 cyclone spoilers, a 67 hemi GTX; :boring: are just a few of the "barn finds" I've encountered over the years of constantly being on the road. These cars are almost never for sale, or sold; irreguardless of the money offered...I came to the conclusion many years ago that the owners have a vested interest in simply OWNING these cars, and that if they were ever sold no one would talk to them! Hope this doesn't sound harsh, that's not my intent; but it does seem the vehicles (derelict or otherwise) provide some kind of a "social anchor" for the owners  Oh well, back to the auction; sure would be nice to see these Buicks back on the road, eventually...

Maybe it's just the right time for the guy to sell now? Personal situation requires the need for big bucks today? Maybe it's easier to unload everything in one shot rather that deal with ebay a bunch of times? Only he knows what's going on inside his head. Regardless, it's another example of this hobby going crazy. And people wonder why kids aren't interested in muscle cars anymore? When you need a jillion dollars to be in it it's kind of a turn off.

I just had to finally say something as I have been a collector of cars for many years and as to Buicks I currently have my share. I have been collecting GSX and GSX S1 car before most of you had drivers licenses. I am not a member of any club and very rarely read any forums. While out of country I noticed these vehicles for sale on eBay... WHAT A RARE FIND! AND CONGRATS TO THE INDIVIDUAL WHO OWNS THESE CARS OR WHOEVER HAS AQUIRED THEM to finally offer a piece of rare history for sale to the public world wide as many of you have probably never had the opportunity to see one of these cars in person... let alone be the proud owner of one. I think it is appalling that this message board and other boards have turned this into a Peyton place soap opera. It personally sounds to me that the guys who "BOUGHT" these cars were maybe not dealing with the true owner of the vehicles, and the person they were "buying" them from was selling them illegally. Therefore when the true owner found out what had transpired he did what was necessary to protect his property... wouldn't anyone???????? I give thanks to the owner for selling the cars legally to someone who has the money to restore them, and not to a couple of guys with big egos and small pocket books. I hope this individual doesn't have any friends who read this because they will probably be reluctant in putting their cars for sale. I hope more people keep these cars away from people like you, and if you two people hold public office I am going to see what I can do to keep you from wasting tax payer dollars on idle nonsense
