chevy small block . the paint scheme , designed by foose , was spectacular . the car was a true rust bucket bondo baby at the beginning .
I don't think so, give me that car with all that work done for FREE....watch me cry so hard I'd fart and blow booger bubbles at the same time. :eek2:
Well thats too bad, the engine shot was so fast I didn't see it, but it had the timing cover sitting way out with the vertical face under the intake just like our Buicks (not like chevy at all) but I couldn't id it, was only one there for about .5 second...that was about halfway through the show....maybe they just tossed it in to to appease the complainers... The tranny did have chevy pattern and the engine shot at the end was also quick and hidden quite well... But regardless, it was pretty cool....lucky kid. Not sure I would let foose touch my cars though (except maybe the 97 RCSB silverado). later Tim
I had a good laugh at them installing the trunk. Lots of words must have been editied out when they found out the replacement floorpans are an inch short. Was it just me wor were they afraid to show the car? Evey shot was a some wierd motion shot thta showed maybe 10% of the car. They never really stayed on the car for more than a few seconds either...
I'm not sure...I might be pissed if my cool primer black 67 got ripped off and turned into a Pimp-o-matic special. First I'd loose those ghetto wheels for some Rallys and see if that didn't help, then I'd kick Chip Foose's ass for trying to hard to turn my Buick into a Chevy. Then I'd grab that chick on the show and teach her why Buicks are supposed to have a back seat....:Brow:
I agree, looks like they got taken on that one. The mock-up car from Memory Lane was in much better condition. They seemed to skim over the metal work!
Thank you! We all need to realize that a fixed up Buick with any engine is better than one rusting in a scrap yard! This purist stuff gets a little old after a while. I recorded the show on the computer...... I'll bring the CD or file with me to Salem Friday on the laptop. Mike
Mike, If you saw that car in the beginning, it would have been better off left in the scrap yard. It was an "el cheapo" post-coupe. If you took a close look at the "mock-up" 67 from Memory Lane, that would have been the car to restore, 2dr hardtop w/black int. There are reasons why cars become parts cars. Don't forget either, car had a SBC, what a surprise. How creative! Just like Jay Leno in his 56 Roadmaster, what a putz! He puts in a Chevy 572 crate engine!uzzled: How original?????? If he, Jay Leno, had any creative automotive talent, he would have installed a blown 425 nailhead or how about a 455 Buick in the Roadmaster????? Jay may be quoted as a "car guy" but in my mind, he is not a "Buick guy"
I'm not going to say that this Buick is horrible, just that I don't like it. If they added a big wing on the back and covered it with performance stickers, you guys would say it's "Riced out" well, to me, turning the back seat into a Best Buy and those Pimp-o-lishous Foose wheels make it a Ghetto Gangsta Custom. Fine.... I still Hate it. I'm not saying it's not good or doesn't extend the Buick Religion in some way, only I wish Chippy could see the beauty of a nicely restored, slightly custom, original-ish Buick. And stop shoving those frik'n Shak Daddy wheels down our throats all the time. Mix in some Cragars or stock Rally's once in a while.
It was built to be a mexican style low rider and they did a great job, would I do that......no, but everyone has a different taste and I think they nailed it for that kid. You can hate it or love it, I'm happy for the kid, and I know what it takes to put a paint job like that on, they worked they're butts off and I can give them kudo's for the effort......I think some forget the work involved and just start pissin and fussin because its not what they like, hate to tell ya this but I'm sure everyones car on this board has had somebody walk by it and say......."hate it"...thats simple to do when you didn't work your ass off on it. Give'm a break
I'm stunned everytime I see him render a sketch, the lines are so perfect. All the different masking techniques for the paint job blew me away. The custom leather interior was stunning. While the car wasn't my style, it was awesome. The paint scheme on the 442 they did two weeks ago was much more my style.
I never saw the show, but was told today by a friend who is a mechanic that they built a Buick. He saw the show last night and told me the car was awesome. That's his opinion, and since I didn't see it, I don't have one. He is a SBC fan, so that may explain it.
