Keeping the steel shim head gaskets so you didn't lose any compression. Every little bit helps. With the bigger cam, exhaust blocked out of the intake, and 180* thermostat it is now more pump gas friendly.

Yeah I couldn't believe it myself when it happened.

I ended up just testing how big my balls were. I shouldn't do that to it again.

Also, if I am unable to go lower than a 14.20, I might sell the car. With this strong of a mild engine, I'm convinced 13s should be in reach.

What still surprises me is this:

Old powerband began to fall off at 4400
New powerband goes further than I need at 5800. I actually had to get out of it so that it wouldn't go higher

No, I feel the curve is up everywhere, and that mat is an armorall product.

Dude. It aint a race car. Low 14's / high 13's are very good for something that big n heavy. Keep her for a fun driver and build a small body car if you want to race. Sell it after all you've been through? Thats the only thing I find unacceptable!

Touché. Just had my wisdom teeth pulled, so I'm on all the drugs right now. I don't think I'd have the heart to sell it, but I know I'd be mad for a long time.

Anyone seen the musical Hamilton? Like Alexander himself, I am never satisfied

If my basically stock '64 Riv. low compression can do a best of 13.902@98MPH I'm sure you'll be there after some more tuning!!!!!

Cool info, the converter flash stalls to 3500. This is going to be a little crazy to drive once I have it dialed better.

Just remember what I told you John, everything feels fast on the street. Then you get the time slip, and think, I thought I was faster than that. That is a heavy car. If you get 2 or 3 tenths, that is still huge.

Yeah, you're right. Cautiously optimistic but I'm prepared to be slightly disappointed

My first outing with the Riv was 16's on street tires. Then got some drag radials and thought for sure Id go really fast and got into the mid/low 15's. Dumped around 10K into the engine and trans did some suspension mods and got low 14's in perfect seal level air. Shes gone high 13's and Im satisfied with that. Any more build and it wouldnt be a really good driver. Had to draw the line. made a plan to build another car and go 12's for 2500.00 out of pocket . Took a yr and lots of help from the board ,but I did it.You guys remember this car?
