I can do that when the heads are back from the machine shop

I still have some I took earlier, but they don’t appear to be anything special. I’ll take more pictures when the heads are picked up.

The intake ports look nicely smoothed even with the little bit of surface rust, and the chambers look like they opened up the heart shape a little with a little cut straight across.
Maby looks that why with the valves missing. I'm not a head expert though.
    Thanks!

Thought you guys may like to see this. Comparison of an R44LTS vs a R44TS spark plug. The long reach plug is noticeably in the combustion chamber

Shes running just about the same numbers my Riv is. I'm not looking to go faster in that car. I feel any more mods will take away from drivability

If anyone wants these cylinder heads, please let me know. They are 67 983 big port heads that appear to be original to the car.

Alright, this will be a big brain dump of what I need to verify/do to get this back on the road.

    Let's go:
    • ✅Pcv grommet in the intake
    • ✅portmatch iron heads to b4b
    • ✅swap all bolts from old heads to new heads
    • ✅verify steel headgaskets dont leave any gaps or open holes on the heads
    • ✅clean up head, intake, and block surfaces
    • ✅remove radiator if possible and blow the watery crap out of it
    • ✅remove tranny cooler and drain it and repeat the same idea with the radiator
    • ✅verify all hoses are good
    • ✅verify all intake hose routing
    • ✅remove old alternator from old heads
    • ✅grind down the blemish on the cylinder 3 piston to avoid detonation
    • ✅find all old R44TS sparkplugs and put them in the new heads
    • ✅rejet quadrajet from 74 driver/74 passenger to 76 driver
    • ✅repaint valve covers nope
The process, but not in any particular order, just general:
    • ✅I nstall heads and headgaskets and torque down
    • ✅install rocker shafts
    • ✅set pushrod length 16 times
    • CHANGE OIL?
    • ✅verify front and rear lifter valley seals are sealing
    • ✅rtv headside
    • ✅install valley pan
    • ✅rtv, but not as much as I used last time, the water jackets
    • ✅install intake
    • ✅install intake bolts and torque down
    • ✅run all hoses and wires, not install yet
    • ✅install the header gaskets and tighten all bolts up (antisieze?)
    • ✅the valve covers
    • ✅install power steering pump and install belt
    • ✅verify all big mechanical parts are in place
    • ✅install alternator and bracket with belt
    • ✅install ac and bracket with belt
    • ✅no belt tension yet
    • ✅install fan shroud
    • ✅install top rad hose
    • ✅add coolant back and let it burp through and turn the water pump in the direction of the fan spinning to push water through the engine
    • ✅check oil looking for milkshake
    • set up an open choke linkage of some sort
    • ✅get ST400 kickdown set up
    • ✅verify literally every wire is connected where it should be and every hose is in the right place with no leaks
    • ✅FINAL BIG CHECK including tighten exhaust
    • ✅reattach battery leads
    • ✅turn the key

Using the stock pan gasket, seems to be doing fine for now. I need to get new intake bolts and I might have it buttoned up by Saturday

You gotta go to Atco John. It is a blast and you will run your best times there.

It’s a 5 hour drive for me, I don’t have the time, and on a new top end too. But, if Lebanon were open, I very well could have gone.

Some how I missed this thread. Did they block off the heat risers going to the intake or not?

I have two small holes, 1/8 each, on the passenger side to keep the intake warm
