So you think it is leaking vacuum at the intake?

    Yes, or hoping

Spray some WD-40 or carb spray around the intake joints with the engine running and watch the vacuum gauge.

Would a leak around the intake also cause an engine to run slightly hot?

Maybe, I doubt it though. A vacuum leak makes the engine run leaner.

. Good posting, been reading. Trying to catch up. Maybe I missed it. How hot is slightly Hot?

Doesn't running leaner make the engine run hotter?

    Say between 190-195 on average.

Well in other news I should have relayed to you all, trying to change the mixture screws at the front of the Quadrajet had little to no effect on the idle. I believe that points to vacuum leak right?

Well my TA 455 runs 192* to 194*. With A/C on its hit I99* in summer. Winter its ran an average of 184*. I Used Larry's distributor timing and curve instructions. Set at 34* all in at 2000 RPM, VAC Advance limited to 10*.

    No
    It could mean calibration.

It's one of Ken's carbs that has done wonders for me in the past, and I had it dead nuts tuned with Jason Cook's wideband. This time, however, there is something amiss.

195* F is not hot. But you need to continue to investigate.

Just to be clear, my engine is running fine with temperature, 1969 Rivi is having problems though, I think

Hey sorry John I wasn't trying to steer your thread off track. Only reason I asked that question is I think I have some leaking starting to happen around my intake like what has been mentioned in this thread and was wondering if that could contribute to possible warmer running temps. That being said what does your Riv generally run at?

It has a 165* thermostat, so it likely runs around 170-175*

It means blades are open too far into the transfer slots. Need to either drill holes in throttle plates (then you will get nozzle drip) better to go to a 71 up qjet that has idle air bypass. Also might need a lower vacuum power piston spring.

When in Rome, do I swap the 113A in over the winter now that the intake is coming off?

Also, I'd much rather remove the radiator and stuff in front of the block than remove the engine again, with limited space this time. Think I'll have enough room when I remove the radiator and maybe even the ac condenser?
