yeah I know it sucks but hang in there man. im making a pan for my block right now actually but I used the other straight bolt pattern on the block instead of the original pattern with the dog leg in it. that's kind of a cool thing about these blocks; two different oil pan rail bolt patterns. what my buddy did was they made kick outs on each side where the main caps interfere. they cut holes and welded in the kickouts in to clear the main caps. when that engine is sitting in front of you, it will be worth it and youll be able to make good power without worrying about the block.

Was told of a delivery time very soon.

Almost gave up because of what some of the board members went through.

What did you do for a pick up?

Are you using an internal or external type?

What did/are going to use for an oil pan gasket? Are you going to cut your own out of a sheet of gasket materal?

My plan is to use silicone between the pan and block and have a second set of bolts spaced further apart (fewer bolts) with an o-ring that will quickly allow for a fast removal and replacement of screen and bearing check. The second set of bolts will be around 3" below the block. The average user will not need this deep skirt oil pan. Remember we have to change the oil after every pass!

for a gasket ill just cut one out. im unsure on the pick up right now, I was going to use an internal with the regular gear set up but im leaning toward something else now. im thinking itll be easier pulling it out of the pan too so I dunno for sure yet.

I prepaid and I know Bobb can't wait to get it so he can get my junk off the floor and out of his shop.

For some reason TA is not answering their phone.

I have tried on three different days at different time without getting through.

Heard another story at The Buick Nationals on the delay for the blocks.

I would just like to know what is going on with them.

Jim- That's a very impressive quantity of runs!

slimfromnz & jesupercat - I've enjoyed your posts about these engines tremendously.

Michael Evans - Like most of us, you're a real trooper for not giving up on Buicks, no matter what the adversity. Stick with 'em and don't give up!

Mike and have talked and the have the ball rolling. There seems like some details need to be worked out, but it looks like a block and cam are going to be coming my way in a couple weeks.

The more Mike told me about the ford cam design, the better I liked it.

---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:45 PM ----------

No John, not needing another handle. I do know who to talk to if I do need one :TU:

Maybe next summer when I get the outer top redone.

Michael, I think most of the first gen blocks have the ford cam design. I know mine does. While I have no build specs for mine yet. Everybody I interviewed for my engine build loved the idea of the ford cam design. When you actually get to see the block in person you just know its a quality piece. Good Luck with the build! I owe you beers someday!

It truly is nice and for all out performance the big cam bearing and 3" mains are the way to go.

If that is how they started out (ford cam size), I wonder why they went smaller?

Mike told me the difference is a bunch.
