Unfortunately all that pic of the car is is someone's dream they came up with on their computer. I'll believe it when I see it. And I totally agree that they should get rid of some of that GTO sheetmetal and make it more original. No wonder GM's market share has done nothing but slide down since the 70's.
It is a Pontiac with port holes. I was disappointed when I saw the picture. I agree with redoing the front end to make it more buick.I would definitely consider a purchase if it was looking like a Buick. If it stays this way in the looks dept,I would not even consider it.
The GNX looks like a photoshop of a GTO. That chevelle is gross. Whats up with the headlights. The hood and fender do not line up at all. Is it missing some sort of trim rings?
I agree with you Phil. I don't see anything referencing where the original "article" came from. The photo looks like some of the GTO concepts we saw last year, but with a few things added to try and make it "Buick." Has anyone, at any time recently, heard anything from Buick mentioning having a Regal model again? They wouldn't have to call it a Regal Grand National GNX if it were a new, stand alone model. It could be purely a Buick GNX. The new GTO isn't refered to as a LeMans/Tempest GTO - just GTO. Regarding the engine, since I don't keep up on the new powerplants, is there an engine like this currently in use/design that would be the basis for this motor? I like the idea of a new GNX (prefer a GSX, but only if done right), but I don't think this is it.
Buickize it? I don't know about the rest of you but to me the modern Buick grille is pretty damn ugly! Maybe just eliminate the V in the picture and have an inset emblem but anything more than that and it'll start to interfere with the rest of the looks of the car and look like a forced image transfer. I think it looks VERY good myself.
I found it posted on another forum, so I decided to pass it along. I think it'll be an aussie only car... I dont even know where the article originated from.
Interesting .... to imagine what this board would be like with an infusion of new car excitement. "Picked up my GNX today....." The last Buick muscle car ceased production 18 years ago! As for the artists rendering, it is a GTO with hood scoops and portholes.... it needs a 70 GS eggcrate style grill. Split in the middle with a straight piece of vertical chrome about an inch wide. I definitely say keep the portholes... and the 6 speed.
It looks WAY more like a Buick after removing the V from the upper grille and the solid panel from the middle of the lower grille. Needs to be called a "GS", not GNX, not GSX, just "GS".
I like it, I think I like Dean's blacked out grille a little better! For 38K that would be a deal. Think of the infusion of excitment it would bring to Buick dealerships. It wouldn't be long before the aftermarket had new turbo's, intercoolers, chips and such..New Buick's would once again be out picking on mustang's and corvette's. Just like the old days with a whole new generation.
who could really afford it? take 10k off the price, make it look like a Buick instead of a Pontiac, and you might have a winner. ________ Pot
What about instead of those hood scoops you put on a GN style hood scoop? I like the grill adjustments made too.
