GNX. No other name in automotive history says "80's Supercar" like those three letters. Now the legend is back. Buicks 2007 GNX is a modern-day incarnation of classic street performance. When you turn the key and hear the throaty dual exhausts announcing the Twin Turbo 3.6L V-6, you'll know you have your hands full. Compared to its '80s namesake, the new GNX sports a suspension that is tighter, an engine that's more powerful and a manual transmission that now boasts two additional gears. The car will hit 60 mph (97 km/h) in about four-and-a-half seconds, and run the quarter mile in under 13 seconds. There's nothing like it in its class. Total performance The completely new GNX isn't just about horsepower, of course. Its unique personality includes impressive cornering abilities, a smooth ride and surprising comfort. But the heart of the GNX is indeed a truly awesome Twin Turbo and Intercooled 3.6l V-6 engine, also known as the base powerplant for the Buick Velite Concept. The GNX produces an estimated 450 horsepower and with 465 lb.-ft. of torque, it has no problem leaving a stop with purpose. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels and performance tires are matched to a fully independent, performance-tuned suspension featuring direct-acting stabilizing bars and power rack-and-pinion steering. Traction control and a limited slip differentials also come standard. And, today's GNX revs through six forward speeds with the close-ratio manual transmission, or you can choose a six-speed Hydra-Matic. Both come with a 3.46:1 final drive ratio. Performance-oriented interior The GNX is, first and foremost, a driver's car. Every detail, from the satin-finish steering wheel to the race-inspired metallic pedals, gives the driver a sense of performance from the moment the car is entered. The standard feature list starts off with leather 2+2 bucket seats, in black -color-coordinated with the vehicle's exterior color. The high-tech seats provide lateral support, wrapping around the driver and front passenger and complementing the great handling characteristics of the chassis. Also standard is a six-disc CD-changer with premium 10-speaker sound system, cruise control, a multi-function driver information center, keyless entry system and a host of other features to enhance the driving experience. Sensuous design Rather than create an imitation of the original legend, the 2007 GNX provides a contemporary interpretation of the classic buick sports coupe. The distinctive, tautly stretched exterior, aggressive lowered stance and sleek, simple form all help express the clean, athletic styling direction of Buick. Add this to the obvious performance of the vehicle and you have a rear-wheel-drive TT+I V-6-powered premium sports coupe wrapped in a seamless, modern design. Safety and quality Bringing the GNX to a safe stop is accomplished through standard four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated front, solid rear), part of a four-channel anti-lock braking system. Other standard safety features include dual front air bags, three-point safety belts for all occupants and an Emergency Mode that automatically shuts down the engine, turns off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and turns on the dome light any time the air-bag system is deployed. Production of the 2007 Buick GNX will begin in September 2006 at Holden's award-winning Elizabeth plant in Australia using the latest techniques to ensure both measurable and "perceived" quality. Projected annual production will be 18,000 vehicles. How sick is that. I hope its real and I hope it happens. And I hope someone puts one in pro stock with a 500 inch BBB.
Now this would be BAD A**! But the GTOish hood scoops and grille (top kinda looks like an arrow head) need to be BUICKfied! Say BY BY Mustang :Brow:
Good look!!! I love the look and every other aspect of the car. But I can also see some ricer geeks getting ahold of it and gutting it and wrecking it in some piontless drifer crap.
Gto At least the artist could have given us a Buick grill instead of a pontiac grill - can we say rebadged GTO :boring:
2007 Gnx ? Is that a Pontiac grill I see? That has to be changed, it needs something on it to yell "BUICK" besides an emblem or two. Under the hood is a Buick heart but her lines also need to say Buick without a name badge. Take note Buick...2005 Mustang says "Mustang" from a mile away!
It's looks too much like a friggin pontiac, and a GTO at that. I mean it looks good, but if it is going to be a buick, give it some class and style. :bglasses: Hopefully the production cars won't look like that.
That would be the only new car I would consider buying instead of building my own, but if I had a ton of money I would put a 231 turbo engine in it and go racing.
So I take it that Buick is'nt going to die? Yeah that would be cool if it's true. But definitely change the fascia (sp), more like an updated version of the old grille and turbo hood. And like Mike said, I'll belive it when I see it uzzled: .
Well, I swore off buying another newer GM vehicle, but I hink I would be waiting September 2006 to take delivery of that....just because it's a new GNX!!!
Well I hope it true. Since I do not like new cars I would work 2 or even 3 jobs just to get this bad boy also learn manual. I dont care what it looks like but will it have a Buick built drivetrain?
I agree with you guys on the Grille, get rid of the "V" and make it more Buick like. The hood scoops don't work either, maybe just a GNX bulge or a stage 2 scoop :jd: , I'd buy it to do my part in letting GM know that there are still Buick buyers out here. One of you guys that good with photoshop should buickize it a little more. :TU:
Overall, I like it. Fender vents/ports look 'right'. I don't mind a more forward located pair of scoops......let's face it - the original GS scoops weren't as functional as they could have been (boundary layer air an all). At the very least though, the grill does need to be BUICK. Since when did a Regal or Skylark have a split (pontiac) grill?? o No: This body style would look good with a GSX style wing in the rear too!!
Once again GM takes a awsome concept and just makes it look just like some other car they already make instead of making it original.
I'd prefer a Buick, but if the new GM musclecars are all going to be based on the GTO platform, I'd rather have the Chevelle 454SS version, overall! :bglasses: EFI 454, 6speed Manual, Carbon Fiber body, Can be yours for as low as $150,000! I spoke with the owner of the company that builds them, and I told him that he should have built a REAL Musclecar, instead of the Chevelle. Of course, he had to ask me what I would consider a REAL Musclecar, and I told him how I thought "his" car would have looked in Yellow with Black Stripes, and a Rear Wing Spoiler, and a Hood Tach, as a GSX! You should have seen the look on his face, as he might have considered it! :bglasses:
men that buick looks beautiful compared to that chevelle, still needs a little more buick attitude to it.... :Brow:
